3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoeMcPhee (6967) - Toronto, ON, - MAY 14, 2011
Deep amber pour. Tight head. The aroma has a much deeper malt contribution than the first. More pine and resin here rather than the zesty aromatics. A bit of orange peel but also a lot of earthy character and some crystal malt sweetness. Tastes a whole lot boozier than the first one as well - a pronounced sweetness as well. Decent, but this just isn’t my style of DIPA
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 argo0 (9226) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 30, 2012
33cl bottle. Small off-white head atop murky dark amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine/grapefruit, some caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some cantaloupe, caramel, alcohol. Medium-full body, some resin.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (5836) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Bottled. Poured medium amber with a surprisingly tall whitish head. The aroma picked up lots of mango and grapefruit paired with spicy pepper and fragrant herbal tea.. lots of deep sweetness going on.. weird. The flavor found grapefruit meat, honey, and mango at the core.. bitter grapefruit, pine resin, and peppery bitterness around.. finished with a lot of sugars and residual citrus bitterness. Heavier-bodied with too much sugarage on the palate.. too bitter in the end, too.. overall decent, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tmrmwel (235) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 26, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark golden, with a small but creamy head. Aroma is predominantly sweet. Although there’s a feeling of a lot of malts underneath it all, it is mainly honey and tropical hops that come through. Flavour is similarly tropical, but with a fabulous growing bitterness of sweet citrus and orange peel. Nice long finish.

Surprisingly dark orange. Toffee, marmalade, walnut and something slightly medicinal and nail polish-like going on on the nose. Nicely balanced and disguised alcohol. Great body. Hardcore-esque bitterness, but with a more profound aftertaste.

On tap @ Sidebar. Dark amber. Little head. Good lacing. Malty aroma. Malty taste. Brown sugar. A bit sweet, with bitter follow. Too malty for my liking.
