Very european malty. Like other brewdog stouts. Good bit of hops left in there as well.

In short: A sweet and very bitter strong dark ale. Very harsh and aggressive. Just ok.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed one month after purchase, however fresh a Danish beer is a Vermont store.
The look: Clear dark ruby body topped by a medium tan head.
In long: Nose is strangely fruity (breakfast dark grapejuice, baked berries), hops resin. Taste is generously malted, quite toasted, crusty bread, a surprising strong rye-like flavor (although no mention this beer is a rye-based), caramel, baked berries and other baked fruits, pine-tree, sharp bitter grapefruits, lots of hop resin. Very sharp bitterness of high intensity. For an 11% beer I must say it doesn’t feel too sweet nor is the alcohol too bothersome. Not a bad beer at all, but a bit too brutal for its own good. Yin & Yang is a philosophical concept and its invention is rightfully attributed to the chinese people, unlike Tai Chi which was in fact invented by a stoned dude who was slooowwwwly chasing mosquitos away.

Pours a translucent blackish brown from the bottle with thin ring of tab lacy head that spots lightly. Aroma is nice grapefruit hops up front then a nice roasted make back end, overlying booze. Taste follows, less booziness and more malty notes. Solid beer. Mix is solid, I think the parts may be better solo.

6oz of Yin Bottled 03/13/13 + 6oz of Yang Bottled 03/12/13 into 16oz white wine glass @ 50°; Black body with deep amber to apricot highlights beneath a khaki head leaving tiny spots of lace; Nose is restrained, dirty and dank, tropical and stone fruits perforating coffee and light chocolate notes; Taste follows on a silky thin mouth, light considering the abv, but very smooth; solid Imperial India Black Ale and my second favorite serving of the group

I combined individual bottles of Yin and Yang to create the Evil Twin Yin/Yang. I think that’s how most people do it. Aroma was sorta weakly hoppy, more dominated by malt and nuts. Yin won out in aroma. Appearance is dark brown tint and dark brown foam. Again, Yin won. Taste is non-bitter hops, veggie aspects shine through, combined with the Yin’s malt/nut character, it reminded me of cooked tomatoes on roasted almonds. Yang wins in the flavor category. Palate is sizzling with carbonation and medium bodied. Overall, very drinkable, unnoticeable abv. Pretty good outcome on a fun variation of the black and tan concept.
