COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial India Black Stout. This is a complete RTD Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan but the one where we flawlessly mixed a flippant good Imperial IPA with a profoundly evil Imperial Stout and sustained sweet beer balance.

From a bottle at an evil twin food pairing at ChurchKey in DC. Pours a almost black with a tan head. Mix of cherries and citrus in the nose. Strange mix of flavors. Prefer yin and yang separately.

After tasting Yang, which was one of the best beers I’ve had, I had big expectations for this one. And it didn’t disappoint. Pours a black oily liquid with a medium offwhite head that quickly disappears. Sweet aroma of chokolate malts and some hoppy notes aswell, kind of reminds me of a barleywine. Tastewise it also has the attributes of a barleywine. Loving it.

(From notes 19 Oct, 2012) Bottle. The head is compact and beige in color. The beer is almost black. Aroma is fruity hops. Flavors are slight alcohol and a strange mix of bitter coffee and some sweetness. Mouthfeel is smooth enough (good). Finish is a sharp bitterness.

Overall an interesting beer. Alcohol takes an unwelcome peek between the otherwise enjoyable sweet & bitter. In the end, good beer.

33cl bottle, from Hopduvel.

Bov (9335) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - OCT 19, 2012
from Erzbierschof - quite black beer under a persistent dark beige foam; licorice and black cherries in the front; notes of caramel and a fair earthy/piney hoppiness; some fair initial sweetness and a full malt backbone; moderate carbonation and pretty thick; very tasty and developping a solid late bitterness; very aromatic hoppy finish with roasted chocolatey notes and hints of black cherries as well

Very good, dense, reddish beige head over totally dark-brown beer. Rich malty nose, with hints at coffee, milkchocolate, and more than a hint at dry hops. Some parsley and caramel - even toffee. Bitter, thouroughly roasted flavour, finish has dry tobacco ashes. Hopbitterness, coffee or chicory. Finish ahs a strange, if non-sweet flavour that is vaguely strawberry - as from unripe strawberry. Carbonation gives a slight lightening to a seriously heavy, near viscous beer. Aftertaste is (alcohol)warming, long lasting and well-balanced. Good one!

Draft. Very dark brown pour, with a light tan head. Verry bitter hops, pine, medium to heavy roasted malt, citrus, and sweet chocolate. It’s 11%!! I did not notice the abv probably due to drinking other high abv beers that day. I liked it.
