Imperial India Black Stout. This is a complete RTD Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan but the one where we flawlessly mixed a flippant good Imperial IPA with a profoundly evil Imperial Stout and sustained sweet beer balance.

At Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Dark brown with a lasting off-white head. Citrus hoppy aroma with chocolate and a touch of winegum. Sweet fruity flavour with lots of chocolate and lots of hops.

Draught at brouwerij Lane BK. Not quite opaque brown with great lace work. beautiful rich resin and funk hop with caramel and chocolate maltiness. Additional flavors of chocolate, dark fruit, licorice, slight vegetal. Finishes bitter chocolate and spicy hop. Sticky thick. My hop and stout fix in one beer No way!

33 cl bottle.
Pours pitch black color with a medium-sized, quickly dissipating head. Aroma of hops, dark fruits, caramel, liquorice, chocolate, mild tar and some vanilla and bourbon notes. Flavor of dark malts, bitter hoppy fruits, some caramel, hints of liquorice, some yeast, dark chocolate and vanilla. Smooth velvety and chocolaty palate with a mild bitter fruity kick. Quite nicely balanced brew.

Pours black colour with small beige head. Aroma is hoppy fruits, sweet caramel malts, chocolate and light coffee. Flavour of berries, salmiac, caramel malts, light fruits andsalty licorice. Some harsh bitterness on the palate that wrecks the mix. A bit better than either of the parts but still lacks something vital.

Tap at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours black-brown with a fine tan head. Quite a bit of dark, ripe fruits in the nose with mild chocolate and pine. Big sweet flavor with a hefty dose of booze and some licorice. yeah, some berries, too, as is often the case with black IPAs. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warm to finish with a bit more roast now, light pine and other resinous bitterness. A heavy-handed black IPA, but nice.

Originally rated on 20.6.2011, 2x330ml bottles from Bierkompass, mixed 50/50. Pours black with a nice foamy head. Aroma has hints of roasted malts, espresso and fruits. Unbelievably tasty, starts out with a nice roasted taste and finishes with a taste of sweet and exotic fruits with some roastiness. Complex, extremely well balanced. Finally a Black IPA done right. Wow, definitely one of the best brews I’ve tasted in a while. 9-4-9-5-17 = 4.4

Re-rated on 27.6.2012, the official Yin & Yang bottle from Bierkompass

Pours pitch black with a large foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, some fruits, coffee and chocolate. Taste starts out slightly roasty and fruity with notes of bitter hops, very salty licorice and chocolate. Finish is roasty and bitter with some fruitiness and vanilla coffee notes. Hints of some off-flavors. Not as good as the two separate bottles mixed together. Feels like this has a bit too much of the imperial stout pushing through. Still very tasty, though.
