Imperial India Black Stout. This is a complete RTD Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan but the one where we flawlessly mixed a flippant good Imperial IPA with a profoundly evil Imperial Stout and sustained sweet beer balance.

from Erzbierschof - quite black beer under a persistent dark beige foam; licorice and black cherries in the front; notes of caramel and a fair earthy/piney hoppiness; some fair initial sweetness and a full malt backbone; moderate carbonation and pretty thick; very tasty and developping a solid late bitterness; very aromatic hoppy finish with roasted chocolatey notes and hints of black cherries as well

Very good, dense, reddish beige head over totally dark-brown beer. Rich malty nose, with hints at coffee, milkchocolate, and more than a hint at dry hops. Some parsley and caramel - even toffee. Bitter, thouroughly roasted flavour, finish has dry tobacco ashes. Hopbitterness, coffee or chicory. Finish ahs a strange, if non-sweet flavour that is vaguely strawberry - as from unripe strawberry. Carbonation gives a slight lightening to a seriously heavy, near viscous beer. Aftertaste is (alcohol)warming, long lasting and well-balanced. Good one!

Draft. Very dark brown pour, with a light tan head. Verry bitter hops, pine, medium to heavy roasted malt, citrus, and sweet chocolate. It’s 11%!! I did not notice the abv probably due to drinking other high abv beers that day. I liked it.

flaske kjøpt på ølkonsortiet i Aalborg. Nesten svart farge, nesten ikke skum, lite kullsyre, smaker brent malt, karamerll, aske, lakris, Smaker litt som lakrissal eller mørk knott. Ikke mye alkoholsmak. Utrolig at denne ølen er på 11%

I am not a big fan of black ipas. Neither here nor there. Roastiness nor hops nor bitterness come across. Both apart are better. But conceptually great ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle fron Vika. Pours black. Some fizzy head. Lots of carbonation. Alcohol, metallic and water nose(!). Luckily, aroma is way better. Roasted malt, coffee, raisins and some hops. Quite bitter. Sweet. Good body. A very good beer.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Deep ruby, fluffy head. Lovely complex sweetness, layer upon layer of flavour. Smoke, burned sugar, subtle bitterness. For dark evenings showing there is hope after all.

12 oz. from Bottleworks. Opposing yet complimentary forces. This beer is a ridiculous interpretation of the black IPA style. Crazy hop bitterness mixes with a seriously roasted stout to produce an incredibly heavy brew. So much alcohol it feels like the heat is burning off my tastebuds. No wonder it’s only in a 12 oz. My first Evil Twin beer an hopefully not my last.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration2012. A reddish dark brown beer with a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma is lightly roasted, with some resiny and piney notes. Citrus peel and a touch of coffee. The flavor is quite bitter and resiny, with the roasted malts sure present. Full-bodied, sweetish and pleasantly carbonated, but a bit warm on the palate. The finish is bitter and sweet with roasted malts. It’s a nice blend, but I think the beers are better on their own than blended even though my ratings might not reflect that. 120511

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a light tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and piney and citrusy hops. Flavour is roasted malt, piney and citrusy hops – and a slightly bitter finish.
