3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 20, 2012
On tap. Pours an opaque deep brown rather than black really with no head whatsoever. The aroma is surprisingly discreet, just a little roasty. Rich body, low carbonation, but flavour-wise the beer really opens up. Dark, juicy pruney fruit, licorice and a little citrus - very little. The finish is rather hot on alcohol with quite a hop build up. The final sum of this blend is actualy better than its parts! 170512
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 6, 2012
Bottled (thanks Kimi!). Quite much black colour with a small beige head. Aroma is fruity, mild roasted, quite "strong alcohol without being evident alcohol", liquorice, and wood. Flavour is quite strong floral, fruity and salted liquorice like notes. Mild alcohol and some slight resiny and wooden notes. Big salted liquorice finish. Imperial Black IPA would be the fitting style. Jeppe, I am not sorry for bashing the biscuits, but for hating IPA/DIPA, and especially the paradox of a Black IPA (Cascadian Dark Ale is better, and for this, imperial in front), this beer ... I fucking love this!
