COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial India Black Stout. This is a complete RTD Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan but the one where we flawlessly mixed a flippant good Imperial IPA with a profoundly evil Imperial Stout and sustained sweet beer balance.

After tasting Yang, which was one of the best beers Iíve had, I had big expectations for this one. And it didnít disappoint. Pours a black oily liquid with a medium offwhite head that quickly disappears. Sweet aroma of chokolate malts and some hoppy notes aswell, kind of reminds me of a barleywine. Tastewise it also has the attributes of a barleywine. Loving it.

Mixed bottles 50:50. Pours reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma and flavor are dominated by the imperial stout but very well balanced by fruity notes in the aroma and the long biitterness in the flavor. Interesting

Bottles mixed 50:50. Dark with a dark, beige head. Dark malt with the tropical fruits popping through. Great mix.

Mixed from bottles. The darkness of the Yin overwhelms in the colour. Dark brown to almost black. Aroma is a combination of the two beers but the Yang stands out a bit more. You get the hops, citrus, grapefruit and the chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Taste is sweet with a nice bitter hoppy aftertaste. I really like this.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a ruby highlighted, darkest brown color, with fairly persistent, bubbly tan head foam, and spots & streaks of clingy lacing. The nose was quite roasted, maybe a touch of dark fruit, bakerís chocolate, and some wood & char. The taste was similar notes as the aroma, with hop bitterness that was lingering & dry, fairly hidden alcohol, and a touch of malt sweetness that tickled the tongue. Bold enough, liked it.

Mixed from bottles, 50:50 @ Brewfellas. Dark color with light hints inside. Smooth roasted aroma. At the beginning it has a weird taste, but as soon as it blends it gets very smooth and balanced. I think I prefer this mixture, than any of the two ones, single. Nice one...and boozy.

Mixed from bottles, 50:50. Black pour, thick light tan head. Roast, citrus, chocolate, coffee, quite an interesting mix. Taste is slightly bitter to begin with, citrusy, then as that fades the coffee, roasty flavours come through. Bitter at the end, a combination of both the hop bitterness and the roastiness. Would love a couple more bottles to mix the ratios up a bit. Like the combo slightly better than the parts, like the idea

Keg, mixed myself at Express DíLyon, Paris, 3rd July. Not bad, reminded me of an imperial black IPA, prefer the two separately though

Mixed this one myself; I have never seen the pre-mixed version in stores. Smells more IPA than stout, but I can sense the roasty char of the stout trying to come through. The aroma is really like a great black IPA. Malt sweetness still holds up through all of this. Looks just like a stout, with the only possible difference being a slightly lighter head (off-white rather than tan). The taste is spot on - a really well balanced black IPA that has slight hops up front and at the end with great roast and smoky flavor in between. Kind of reminds me of Wookey Jack, but I think itís even better tasting. Palate is effervescent enough to be a good IPA yet slick enough to be a good stout. Very interesting. Bonus points for being unique - who else would think of this? I was worried that this was just a strategy to get people to buy two 4-packs, but I really like it. Very well done.

Bottles mixed. The yin quickly overtakes the yang in appearance as expected making it black with a thinner tan head. Aroma is a mix chocolate and roasted malts with grapefruit and floral hops, which is quite nice. Taste is very balanced, not too sweet with a consistent bitterness. Medium body, good carbonation, and smooth / creamy on the palate. Impressive blend.

Surprising. The nose behaves much like Iídíve expected - lots of malt from both the stout and the IPA halves, with just a faint undercurrent of hops. The taste, however, has behaved... unexpectedly. There appears to be less sweet malt on the outset than was present in either the Yin or the Yang. Itís like their sweetnesses didnít add, but the bitter did. I want to try this again with a proper float, but itís pretty serviceable just as it is.
