COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial India Black Stout. This is a complete RTD Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan but the one where we flawlessly mixed a flippant good Imperial IPA with a profoundly evil Imperial Stout and sustained sweet beer balance.

355ml bottle from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Black in colour with a lasting tan coloured head. The aroma is of chocolate, oranges, some roast. The flavour is of light citrus hops, chocolate, roast and light smoke. Finishes long, moderate bitterness, light alcohol.

Bottle. Roasted malt aroma with notes of chocolate and a some hops. Pours black with a thin light brown head and decent lacing. Starts with good roasted malt and some chocolate, but still medium bodied. Finishes with the dryness and slight citrus hoppiness of an ipa, but also has the roasted maltiness of a stout that sticks to the palate. Interesting take on a Black and Tan.

On tap @ 10 East Aroma - seems to angle towards the IIPA territory rather than the expected IS territory. Fruity, lots of pine sap with just a echo of roasted malts. Lurking underneath it all is some wet coffee grounds. Appearance - muddy dark brownish/lack body, scant head. Aggitation provides a 1" tight beige head. Flavor - pine sap and chocolate dominate things, but an ashy/acridness shows up too thatís not very pleasing to me. Licorice and dark berries seem to show up too about mid-pint. Palate - full bodied beer, nothing cloying but you can feel some density about it. Overall - I think I like the individual beers better than the combo, but it wasnít bad.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/16/2014. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, licorice, floral, grass, pine, light char/smoke, and floral/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and citrus/pine hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, licorice, floral, grass, pine, light char/smoke, and floral/roasted earthiness. Good amount of pine and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange zest, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, licorice, pine, light char/smoke, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of big dark/roasted malt and citrus/pine hop flavors; with a great roasted malt and hop bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, moderately sticky, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Black and tan style. All around great balance and complexity of big dark/roasted malt and citrus/pine hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. Definitely felt like an imperial black IPA with the big hoppiness. Would be interested in aging this one to see what happens. A very enjoyable offering.

Black pour from 12oz bottle at home. Malty creamy aroma. Chocolate and vanlla taste. Bitter and hoppy. Perfect combo of stout and ipa. This is delicious. Pine, cocoa, and even a little spicy.

Bottle. Grey, black color, weird two-colored head. Mild aroma of dark malt and hops. Taste of strong bitter hops, but also of roasted malt. This combination works quite well, I like this more than the seperate beers. This black & tan results in a fine black IPA.
