English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

Overall: Dry, roasted, yet a sweet fruityness.

Mikon luona 1/2015. Yin alone was really enjoyable, roasty imperial stout with lots of dark chocolate and coffee. Mix with Yang was surprisingly "alcoholic"!

Lots of coffee and chocolate in aroma mixing there with roastiness and hints of dark dried fruits such as cherries. Cherry liquor in the background. Rich and strong. Pours jet black with nice, big tan coloured head, that disappears a tad too quickly. Very good looking beer (4.5/5 I’d say). Taste delivers what aroma advertises. Nice mixture of all the aromas on the palate backed up by solid bitterness. Very nice balance. Carbonation slightly above average. Overall a great beer - they promised a nicely balanced ris and they delivered - taiji for sure ;)

Finally tried this solo, after having two in a Yin Yang black and Tan. Pours dark with a slightly darker than milk chocolate head. Dark chocolate taste, but with a hint of dark fruit at the end. A bit of a roasted feeling lingers. Oily mouthfeel. I do like this stout, but will finish my final bottle with another Yang.

Strong malty aroma with prominent chocolate and coffee notes. Solid, dark color with a full head. Slightly sweet taste with a strong chocolate presence and a smoky aftertaster. Goes down extremely smooth with very little carbonation on drinking (simlar to Guinness that way). An excellent beer for winter/cold weather.

12 oz bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a full mocha head. Aroma: Caramel/toffee to start, lots of roasted malts, molasses, a bit of chocolate and coffee, a little grape jelly, quite sweet, booze, slightly smokey, nice. Palate: Medium+ body, full, creamy carbonation. Flav.: Roasted malts and grape jelly, molasses, coffee and chocolate, light smoke, light booze; sweet with decent bitterness and a long, sweet, mouth-coating rich, dark-roasted malt finish.

Hurray for Yin! You beat Yang! And the two together were quite nice (for science).

Piękna drobna, brązowa piana. Kolor ciemnobrunatny, nieprzejrzyste. W aromacie głównie paloność, lekkie śliwki. W drugiej nucie deserowa czekolada i trochę słodyczy. W drugiej nucie wychodzą nuty likierowe, przebija się lekki alkohol. Kwaskowate aromaty ciemnych słodów. Lekka nuta kakao. W smaku zdecydowana paloność, lekka nuta drewna. Ciemne słody, kwaskowość. Alkohol grzeje, lekko drapiący, ale nie przeszkadza. Pozostawia gorzko-palony posmak. Całość dość wytrawna. Trochę brakuje słodyczy. Na dłuższą metę goryczka zaczyna być lekko męcząca.

Pours dark brown, clear, regular bottle cap. Smell is complex dark malt, chocolate, some licorice. Taste is sharp dark roasted malts, sweet, alcohol is apparent. You do get smoke as the beer warms. Also some pencil lead like character.

Bottle: Jet black pour with a leathery, deep-tan foam that builds up slowly & lasts at over a half-inch for quite a while. Modest lacing. Aroma of inherent coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malts, a hint of char, burnt brown sugar, some mild black licorice, & a light kiss of sweet cream. Flavor is lightly woodsy with notes of faint char, dark chocolate, slight coffee bean, roasted malts, a hint of milky cream, bitter roast, some anise, a small bit of soy, & extremely burnt brown sugar notes. Sweet & bitter balances up front but ultimately it finishes rather roasty & bitter. Pretty nice.
