English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

Bottle 33cl from Allen thanks, a dark beer with medium creamy brownish head. Nose is very roasted and alcoholic like. Aroma is malty, roasted, ash notes, coffee like, bit harsh with a creamy consistency. Long roasted aftertaste of moca and bitter dark chocolate, nice creamy texture, in the average on aromas.

Draught @ Olfestival 2011 Kobenhavn. Pitchblack with brown head. Very roasty aroma, chocolate, coffee. Very rich taste of roasted malt, lovely chocolate, coffee, a tiny touch of licorice. Aftertaste has very logn duration and is very very nice. One of the best of the festival for me.

Tried at GBBF 2011. Light amber with fluffy head. floral hop aroma, fairly oily texture with good alcohol legs and long bitter finish. Better mixed together as intended.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20111121) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had liquorice, coffee and hops. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, alcohol, liquorice, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was ashy, roasty and bitter. Okish but too boozy.

Bottle:   Pitch black, moderate foamy beige head, nice lacing.   Some heavy roastiness, coffee, dark chocolate, dark pitted fruit, and licorice on the nose.   Tastes of acrid burnt malts, strong salty licorice, and alcohol.   There is also some coffee and soy notes as well.   This is a bruiser that may be best left to sit for a while before opening.   Fairly smooth on the tongue, fairly big bodied.   Lingering alcohol and acrid roastiness.   As this warms, it seems to mellow a bit.   Either that or the 10% ABV is kicking in.   Decent Imperial Stout, a little rough, but could use a bit more sweetness to balance it out.

It poured a deep dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was of toasted espresso and lots of alcohol. The taste was chocolate, caramel, coffee and more alcohol. Very good brew.

Bottle. Poured black with a smallish tan head. Pretty good imperial stout: some coffee and chocolate, lots of roasted and nearly burnt malt, fairly sweet, quite bitter, a bit of fruit (cherry, plum, fig). Full, somewhat slick mouthfeel.

Nice dark rich color. Has a fairly potent alcohol nose mixed with chocolate and malt. After 4th sip I’m starting to find some hoppiness.. it seems contradictory. I’d rather it remain how it did my first sip.

Bottle @ beer revolution in oakland. Dark brown imperial stout-like pour, whispy tan head. Chocolatey malt nose with a touch of brown sugar and alcohol. Crisp, hop forward imperial stout flavors, bitter accented firm roasted character and a very slight hint of licorice. Full, hardy body as a result of aggressive hopping and alcohol. Decent, well rounded for this take on the style but personally too aggressive in its hoppiness and somewhat too abrasive with the roast/hop combination to be all that overly enjoyuable for me.
