English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a very dark amber-brown, almost black, with a large lasting frothy tan head. Some minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, light hops, a hint of smoke and some lactic notes. Flavour of roast, coffee and alcohol first followed by lactic notes, light smoke, dark chocolate, some earthiness and a big bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Imperial Stout at 10% ABV that pours a French roast coffee color, nice head and lacing, beautifully balanced malt and hops, though this is a monster malt-forward beer, long finish featuring melted licorice notes. Quite a beer!

(draught) near black, thick dark tan creamy head. Nose of pretty fairly citrus heavy hops, pine, roasty chocolate, vanilla/cream, chocolate malt. Taste of grapefruit, bitter chocolate, more bitter thanI would like so it’s hard to detect other flavors. Bitter citrus finish. Reminds of a black ipa.

Bottle. Pours black with a small mocha head. Aroma is burned malts, tobacco, oak and peaty notes of burned wood. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with burned malts, muscovado, tobacco and liquorice.

A really smooth imperial stout. Extremely strong almost to a point where you loose the flavor of the stout. Nicely bitter with little aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, now at a reasonable price. Pours thick, viscous, nearly black with tan head. Aroma is big and roasty, with chocolate, coffee, and sugary notes. Taste roasty, almost smoky, with perceptible ethanol. Rich, with bitter finish lingering and commingling with the alcohol burn/warmth. Full body, soft carbonation, thick and syrupy. Overall: evil twin, I like your style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the Bier Stein, Eugene. Pours an opaque black/brown, little bit of tan head. Aroma roasty and herbal, vicious. Body harsh, roasty, finish has some bitterness. Meh. Reminds me of Ten Fidy in its herbal/grassy sensibilities, not for me.

funded by the $20 I found on the street series: 12oz bottle from 3/13/13 - pours dark brown to black with huge light brown head and sparse lacing. Nose is roast and dark chocolate. Flavor adds light coffee. Medium to big body. Not as dry as I would expect. Roast aftertaste. Bitter like dark chocolate. For a beer that is 10% ABV, it drinks like an unmodified stout. I’m glad I tried it and am looking forward to more from this brewery.
