English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a nearly pitch black color. The head stands tall at three fingers high, khaki shaded. Texture-wise, it seems more soapy than creamy, but still, this has good retention for a 10% beer. Some spotty patches of lacing are left behind. S: This has a lot of licorice for my tastes. Seriously, a lot. Apart from that, this beer still brings the roast, still brings the chocolate, and even brings something resembling peat. There’s even some slight citrusy hops floating around. Even with all the aniseed, this has a very appealing aroma. T: I said the aroma brings the roast. Well, that’s not the case here - because it REALLY brings the roast, like a charred sledgehammer. The roasted notes are mainly clustered near the finish; before that, it starts with a combination of fruitiness and licorice. It also finishes with slight wisps of chocolate and booze (just enough to add to the experience, mind). I’m really enjoying how charred the roasted malts are in particular. M: It starts off really dry finishing in spite of the creamy body, and combined with its slightly thin body, gives it great drinkability. The finish becomes becomes a lot wetter as more is consumed - it’s almost like said feature is an omen for me to stop slamming this. Too bad, because I absolutely adore a slammable imperial stout (Black Albert, anyone?) Carbonation is medium. O: Make no mistake, this is really damn good. A bit pricey for me to purchase this frequently, though. Highly recommended for roast lovers.

Evil Twin’s Yin is most definitely a creation of pure evil. It’s abysmally black and gorgeously heady. Aroma packs a punch with roasted (almost burnt) grains, dark chocolate, coffee, and booze. Taste follows suit. Body is supremely smooth, full, warm, and rich. This one reminded me a lot of Ten FIDY. Even the color scheme of the packaging is similar. I’m onto you, Evil Twin. Imitation is the most sincerely evil form of flattery.

Bottle. The look is dark, decent tan head, and black in color. The smell is roast, burnt malts, toast, chocolate, mochas, and rich. The taste is much the same, good overall, good stout.

Nice Imperial stout, plenty of roasted malts, coffee bitterness, hints of chocolate and faint dark fruits. Smooth with a slight alcohol burn as it goes down leaving a warming sensation.

Big coffee flavor with a little dark chocolate and spice. Lots of lacing. Black with a medium brown head. Drinks lighter than ABV. Enjoyed tremendously.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Stas. Deep brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, smoke and prunes. Flavor of sweetish malt, dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, licorace. Medium-bodied, a bit too fizzy, takes some time to settle down the flavors. Good.

For me, is the best imperial stout there is. Licorice, dark chocolate, with a semi-dry bitter finish. just wonderful

Bottle from Couleurs de Bières, Montpellier. Pours really black, tan head. Smells of coffee roast, cocoa, and dark fruit, Oily mouthfeel, with flavours of black coffee, malty sweetness, dark bitter chocolate. I really enjoyed this one, a good stout!
