COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a nearly pitch black color. The head stands tall at three fingers high, khaki shaded. Texture-wise, it seems more soapy than creamy, but still, this has good retention for a 10% beer. Some spotty patches of lacing are left behind. S: This has a lot of licorice for my tastes. Seriously, a lot. Apart from that, this beer still brings the roast, still brings the chocolate, and even brings something resembling peat. There’s even some slight citrusy hops floating around. Even with all the aniseed, this has a very appealing aroma. T: I said the aroma brings the roast. Well, that’s not the case here - because it REALLY brings the roast, like a charred sledgehammer. The roasted notes are mainly clustered near the finish; before that, it starts with a combination of fruitiness and licorice. It also finishes with slight wisps of chocolate and booze (just enough to add to the experience, mind). I’m really enjoying how charred the roasted malts are in particular. M: It starts off really dry finishing in spite of the creamy body, and combined with its slightly thin body, gives it great drinkability. The finish becomes becomes a lot wetter as more is consumed - it’s almost like said feature is an omen for me to stop slamming this. Too bad, because I absolutely adore a slammable imperial stout (Black Albert, anyone?) Carbonation is medium. O: Make no mistake, this is really damn good. A bit pricey for me to purchase this frequently, though. Highly recommended for roast lovers.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Lots of roasty coffee in the aroma, just a hint of cocoa. Flavor is more varied, leaning more on cocoa, with roastiness, coffee, and anise. Slightly syrupy palate, though not too sweet. It’s pretty good.

[6267-20140419] Tap. Mild bourbon evergreen aroma. Black body with a quick foamy tan head. Roasted wood and sweet malty grain flavour. Full body. Good. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

Bue en bouteille de 33cl à la brasserie, couleur très noire, mousse marron qui tombe vite, peu d’effervescence, une bière assez intense au goût, café, chocolat, cacao, amère sur le furfural. Assez intense ensuite petite pointe réglisse.

BOTTLE 12 OZ. Black bitter chocolate with hints of vanilla. Robust roast without going over the top. The alcohol is there just to provide a little warmth and not more than that. Spicy hoppy finish with moderate to strong bitterness. Balanced, correct, solid but not exciting.

Rating #1102 - May 24, 2014 - Spring Fling at Liquor Select. Black as a kung fu master’s conscience, with a foamy tan cap at the top of the glass that fades to a ring. Aroma is heavy roast malt, burnt sugar, currant, raisin, smoke. Taste is mild bitterness, medium-heavy alcohol character. Evocative of every evil imaginable - sampled solo, but so harmonious with Yang IPA - a true craft beer geek’s dream Black and Tan.

Draught at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. Pours black with a small dense light-brown head. Good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste as aroma but also with notes of vanilla, licorice and dark fruits. Full body and soft carbonation. Sweet and creamy with a nice roasted finish.

Bottle. Wonderful roasted malt aroma with a lot of rich dark chocolate as well as a hint of vanilla. Pours black with a large, medium brown head and excellent lacing. Starts with a rich, silky mouthfeel and has good roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes extremely smooth with a hint of vanilla and the rich dark chocolate lingering nicely on the palate. Excellent stout.

Piwo butelkowe. W aromacie kawa, czekolada, wiśnie w likierze. Kolor czarna smoła bez przebłysków, obfita beżowa piana do ostatniego łyka. Wysycenie niskie do średniego idealnie pasuje do całokształtu. Wybitna mieszanka.
