English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

Strong, oily aroma is smoky with nutty and roast coffee tones, very tempting. It pours black as midnight with a thick, fine-bubbled, dark tan head - most appetizing. Smoky flavor fills the mouth with roast coffee, licorice, unsweet chocolate, nuts and a hint of oak. Texture is silky smooth, on the thick side, and subtly fizzy, but the tingle that it leaves behind on the lips and tongue persists for a while. Recommended!

Lite diskret doft men en stor smak. Mycket torr, en del kaffe och lakrits. Lite lätt eftersmak. Mycket stabil. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle. Pitch black with small to average creamy lasting and lacing tan head. Intense aroma with typical roasty dark malt notes, a touch of smoke and ham, a dry note like very dark chocolate. Taste has some sweetness in the beginning, liquorice, then predominate dry and roasty notes. Endless dry finish. This is why you should drink beer.

330ml bottle (O’Hara’s, Tampere)
Lovely rich roasty aroma, but tons of sweet fruity esters too. Black, and with a dark tan tight head. Lovely deep roast, some bite almost like mustard. Full palate, pleasant carbonation. Finish is wonderful - bitter chocolate and espresso, but amazingly mellow. No sign of the alcohol. A great sipper, the dark malts are used very well. Enjoyed the whole bottle, and was sad when the glass became empty.

From the tap poured a dark brown color with a fair amount of head. Strong sweet malty flavor with a quick finish.

Draft. Pitch black color, creamy tan head. Nose is burnt roasted malts, chocolate and coffee hints. This beer is worth you money. Everything you want in an Imperial stout. Chocolate cake, caramel malt up front of the sip followed by bitter coffee and a hop note. Whatever hops they use is strictly for balance of the sweetness. Coffee shows up again near the finish. Some dark fruit nuances as well. Rich, creamy mouthfeel. Lightly boozy giving you a warming feeling on the way down. This is a beast of a stout. A real treat on draught. Finely crafted.

Bottled. Poured deep brown with a couple fingers’ worth of well-retained dark tan head. The aroma picked up well-roasted, ashy black patent and chocolate malts topped by a wash of fresh earth and lesser grassy hops.. salty kiss on the back of the nose.. really nice. The flavor opened with a quick hit of fresh bitterness and briny character, with roasty and lightly-smoked black malts not far behind.. finished with a good blend of roasty and bitter, but the malts could’ve been more complex. Medium-plus bodied with good balance on the palate.. almost buttery-smooth across the middle.. overall a solid brew.

Old review from last May, On tap. Pour is a dark black body with small tan head and good lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, fruity hops. Taste is very smokey with good floral and chocolate notes maybe even some blackberry coming through as well. Smooth mouth and easily drinkable for the rauch style. First beer I have sampled from a brewer with an increasingly good repuation. Worth trying.

Aroma is heavy malts and coffee/chocolate. The flavor is malty and vinous, with a slight alcohol burn in the finish.
