English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

Aroma is interesting - more smoky than most Imperial Stouts. I like it, but it’s just different. The best way I can describe this aroma is opening up the grill when you’re cooking a good steak. In fact, I think I just found a food pairing for this beer. For some reason, it smells like red meat to me, but I like red meat so that’s ok. Black as night with a small tan head. A little more carbonated than most great stouts I have had - that’s what takes the appearance from a 5 to a 4. I’m picky. Taste is smoky, hoppy for an IS, roasty and has a mild cocoa flavor. Better with each sip, but a bit overwhelming at first. Palate is a bit watery for the size of this beer. More like a Black IPA than a stout. Good, but Yang and the Yin & Yang mixture were both better.

Black. Rich roasted malty aroma with notes of chocolate, soy and alcohol. Big malty flavour with caramel, roasted barley and hoppy spice. Sweet taste with a bitter charcoal finish that leaves some alcohol on the tongue. Full body, with a soft texture. Overall, a great imperial stout. Rich and tasty, and it does not become cloying despite the sweetness.
