3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smooth, nice mouth feel. Very pleasant but at the same time I found myself satisfied with just drinking one with no immediate plans for another. Notes of chocolate and coffee. No flavor too strong just amazingly well balanced. Not disappointed with the 3.75 I spent.

Keg at The Craven Arms, Birmingham. Black with tan head. Finally caught up with this having had the Yang a few years back. Blackened charry, tarry malts, bitter chocolate, bitter liquorice. Next effort will be to combine them. Jolly fine beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Lots of roasty coffee in the aroma, just a hint of cocoa. Flavor is more varied, leaning more on cocoa, with roastiness, coffee, and anise. Slightly syrupy palate, though not too sweet. It’s pretty good.

Bue en bouteille de 33cl à la brasserie, couleur très noire, mousse marron qui tombe vite, peu d’effervescence, une bière assez intense au goût, café, chocolat, cacao, amère sur le furfural. Assez intense ensuite petite pointe réglisse.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
BOTTLE 12 OZ.
Black bitter chocolate with hints of vanilla. Robust roast without going over the top. The alcohol is there just to provide a little warmth and not more than that. Spicy hoppy finish with moderate to strong bitterness. Balanced, correct, solid but not exciting.

Rating #1102 - May 24, 2014 - Spring Fling at Liquor Select. Black as a kung fu master’s conscience, with a foamy tan cap at the top of the glass that fades to a ring. Aroma is heavy roast malt, burnt sugar, currant, raisin, smoke. Taste is mild bitterness, medium-heavy alcohol character. Evocative of every evil imaginable - sampled solo, but so harmonious with Yang IPA - a true craft beer geek’s dream Black and Tan.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Wonderful roasted malt aroma with a lot of rich dark chocolate as well as a hint of vanilla. Pours black with a large, medium brown head and excellent lacing. Starts with a rich, silky mouthfeel and has good roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes extremely smooth with a hint of vanilla and the rich dark chocolate lingering nicely on the palate. Excellent stout.
