Jacques Au Lantern, our Belgian-inspired pumpkin ale, is now on at the taproom. 6.1% abv, unfiltered and a whirlwind of spicy flavors and aromatics. It would take me a while to describe this one, itís probably easier for all of us if you just stop by and try it.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured clear, dark orange and about two finger of off white head but no lacing on glass. Aroma of malts, yeast, spices and hints of pumpkin. Taste is consistent, mostly sweet (malty) combined with spices and pumpkin (more spices than pumpkin) slight bitterness towards the end. Nice enjoyable beer.

THOUGHTS: A very nice melding of spicy Belgian yeast and pumpkin pie spices. But itís a better Belgian beer than it is a pumpkin beer. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, light, orangey amber with nice carbonatoin and a small, off-white head that nearly fully diminished and left virtually no lacing. The aroma had light caramel; light hops; heavy spicy yeast; hints of pumpkin pie spices that increased as it warmed, and slight pumpkin. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, ever-so-slightly sour and slightly sour; while the finish was slightly sweet and sour, and moderately bitter with and average duration. There was pale malt; slight caramel; spicy Belgian, yeast, sour pumpkin, slight pumpkin pie spices, and metallic hops. The light to medium body was very dry with rather fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly metallic finish.

Bottle via sloth in trade. Decently carbonated but pours nearly flat. Moderate amber, crisp. Light nose of spice and pie dough transitions directly to first big half of body. Second half and finish are significantly weaker and end on the watery side. Spices emerge and linger as brew warms during the 20 minute consumption. A nice relaxing brew to read zombie books with.

Had this on tap at theBarley Que in Harrahs Chester. I was a bit worried because it was only two bucks. Poured a clear amber with no head. The aroma was pumpkin pie spice as was the flavor. Not bad.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Notches on the dates seem to be out of alignment. A - Pours a dark orange body with no real head retention to speak of. S - Surprisingly witbier like. Cinnamon and coriander mostly. A touch of bread. T - Coriander heavy with faint spices on the finish. Not very pumpkin or fall like. M - Nice carbonation and smooth mouth feel. O - An oddly coriander heavy beer with little resemblance to its namesake.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, slightly hazy orange-red with no head, aroma brought notes of some cinnamon, clove, ginger, hints of herbal, vegetal pumpkin notes, hints of earth, slight sour fruit notes with some grape, white fruits, pear notes. Taste is a mix of sweet orange, pear, grape, peach, vegetal pumpkin notes, some slight spice, toasted notes, cinnamon, finishing fairly sweet, slightly dry. Interesting take, which it had a little more of the spice and pumpkin depth.
