4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Really nice double IPA! Light amber in color with a pillowy off-white head. The head leaves some really nice, cascading lacing around the inside of the glass. The aroma features plenty of bitter of spicy hops, along with some light caramel and bready malts. The flavor mirror the nose, with a very balanced and smooth body and texture. There is a ton of huge hop flavor in this impy IPA, and itís incredible drinkable. I taste a lot of tropical fruit, pepper and grass in the flavors, as well.

Sampled at AC Beerfest 2014. Poured a clear golden color with a small foamy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, grapefruit, and sweet tropical fruits (melon, mango, etc). Taste of bitter grapefruit, caramel malt, and pine.

Brown, golden pour. Not much to be said for aroma. Full bodied taste, hoppy and malty with hint of citrus.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice pine and citrus aroma over a sweet malty base. The hops blend nicely with nothing over powering. The start is sweet and creamy with the hops coming on at the back. Nice after taste that lingers after the beer is gone. On tap at the Pour House in Westmont NJ

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle. Pours a clear light copper body with a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin ring and a small island. The nose is a little too heavy on the crystal malt sweetness for my tastes, light to moderate citrusy hops. The flavor is lightly bitter with a huge amount of crystal malt sweetness. The hops are so dulled by the awful sweet malt base that they really donít have a chance to shine at all. Very light bitterness for a DIPA as well. Medium bodied and a bit sticky with hard fizzy carbonation. A pretty awful DIPA. I had their Lot #3 IPA and it was pretty delicious, this is a 180 degree turn from that one. The sweetness on the finish just lingers on for ever. Yuck.

Pours a nice copper color with solid lacing. Smells malty and of hops. Slight taste of citrus in the background and strong hop flavor. A very good beer.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2014 Appearance: Orange-Copper color with a finger width of head. Amazing carbonation.
Aroma: The nose on this imperial IPA is full of life. Tropical fruits such as mango, orange, and a slight sweet melon or cantaloupe aroma. There's a slight citrus aroma of grapefruit & lemon.
Palate: plenty of carbonation. A smooth coat of creamy vanilla coats the the tongue as if I was drinking a pint from the cask. Long lasting bitterness with flavors of pine, pineapple and mango stick to your tongue as if I placed a drop of sap from the pine tree. This imperial IPA is clean, refreshing and very well balanced. One of my favorites IPAs of all time. I would stack this IPA up there with Heady Topper, Pliny & Ruination.
Overall: The well balanced malt matches up with the aggressive bitterness to deliver a must have east coast IPA. This IPA is much better on draft especially when it's fresh.
Pairings: Gouda Cheese, Prima Donna Cheese, Curry Dishes, Thai, Mexican and Spicy entrees

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled in January of 2014.
Appearance: Nearly perfectly clear amber hued body that shows off lots of sparkling carbonation. The head is frothy with a craterous top and excellent retention. The head settles into a frothy off-white coating.
Aroma: The aroma is strong and vibrant, lots of orange, some mango and pineapple and hints of floral qualities. The aroma shows some bitterness and a hint of alcohol, but overall it smells very nice.
Taste: The bitterness is pretty aggressive from start to finish with bitter orange, though an underlying sweet orange takes away from the bitterness slightly. Underlying it is hints of mango and a dry malt base that allows for the hops to stand out. The finish lingers a bit dry with the bitterness clinging.
Palate: Full-bodied with snappy and sharp carbonation.
Overall: This is an excellently crafted imperial IPA showcasing the hops. This is incredibly drinkable and very flavorful.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Nose is big on nice tropical fruits, rinds and all, with a firm pine base. Pours clear amber with a dense and rocky off-white head. Taste medium-strong bitterness, some cool astringent and highly resinous notes, but sweet with a faint amount of booze seeping through. Light body (again, something I didnít like about the small, not souped-up original of which this is a variant) but with nice cleansing soapy character and lighter wood. some of the woodier and spicier notes from their IPA are toned down here, but I have to give it to them, they make clean and refreshing beers.
