4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2013 Draft at 2sP,snifter..great copper color..slight head that remains after each swirl of the snifter..aroma is pine dominant with citrus undertones..wow is that a solid nose, one of the better piney noses...great citrus undertones beneath the piney hops..tangerine goodness..very clean..mouthfeel is excellent.hops are in nice proportion with the malt..but the hops take center stage..a slight warming presence from the high abv..but it is well masked in the palate..would be happy if EVO would bottle this because in my opinion this is the finest 2ipa being made in the de/md area..Everything about this is highly enjoyable..very well done..worth seeking out..Well done evo..just saw that lot 6 will be available in 4 packs soon...4 packs have arrived..more people will get to taste this treat from evo..according to bottle they ramped down the abv just a notch to 8.5 from the 9.5 or so draft..pretty similar to draft offering..pleased that this will be in greater supply..a personal favorite..

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the brewery as a taster and then in a growler. The beer pours an amber and has a strong hops taste. The beer is a strong beer and is your classic Double IPA.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Reviewed 2/11/13. Bottle says 8.5%. 12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.
A: Pours a very hazy golden copper color. The head is a nice three finger cream color featuring excellent lacing down the glass. Retention is only decent, however.
S: Quite grapefruit forward, with an underlying touch of peppery, herbal pine. The malt profile seems to be the standard-issue crystal malts, coming across as somewhat biscuity. The general aroma is very good, if not as vivid as I hoped/expected.
T: The grapefruit character comes across more expressively in the flavor. It starts off with a combination of citrusy hops and biscuity malt/yeast. The finish is pleasantly malty; the subtle grapefruit mingles with the toffee and marzipan qualities, with touches of black pepper and pine appearing. Again, like its little brother, it has a surprising amount of complexity while it maintains a level of balance; some sips will be citrusy, others will be piny, and some will even be tropical.
After downing a second one, it becomes very melon-like in its hop character...perhaps a sign of the Citra hops coming through. Iím upping the score here - Iím on my second one and I almost feel like killing a third bottle. Itís just superb, yet in a subtle manner.
M: The finish starts off pleasantly clean and dry, before a budding aftertaste of hop nectar and malt sweetness builds and lingers on the aftertaste. General texture is on the heavier side of medium - and yet, in spite of all the things conspiring to make it a difficult drink, itís quite easy to down.
O: This is what FW Double Jack should have been - the reason I single out that one is because the flavor profile here is very reminiscent of the hyped DIPA in terms of its malty, orange/grapefruit forward nature; only itís more balanced, less boozy, not as sweet, and more complex. Or maybe this 4 pack is just fresher than the bottle of Double Jack I had. All I know is A) Iíll be coming back to this one at a somewhat frequent rate, and B) itís about damn time MD starts producing a DIPA thatís both top notch and well-priced.

This is a very good beer, I am not normally a fan of IPAs, but this is very smooth and flavorful. Definitely worth trying, just be careful, it is about 9% ABV so it doesnít take many to feel the effects.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 12-oz. bottle, this poured a cloudy, very hazy orange with a one-finger head that rapidly goes to a trace. There was a nice lacing throughout. The nose is dominated by oranges and grapefruit. Taste features a nice bite of hops up front but is quickly matched by sweet caramel malts. There is no lingering bitterness (for better or for worse). There is some pine and oily feel, but these are mild for a DIPA. Alcohol is noticeable but also mild. Moutfeel is medium and carbonation is healthy. I didnít know this brewer or this beer but I need to pay attention from now on. This is a very nice offering and worth your attention.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rich deep hazy copper coloured body with a bright orange and peach coloured glow with a massive, four centimetre tall tan head - very nice. Aroma of resin, alcohol, pine, grapefruit, a lot of sugars and some noticeable malt. Full-bodied; Super rich flavour of grapefruit and resin up front - this is a pungent and potent beer. Aftertaste shows a great variety of hop flavours with floral notes spanning to pine and grapefruit and everything in between. All with a lot of malt behind for a great balance, but still a strong beer. Overall, a nice and deep imperial IPA that has a great flavour profile, is strong and pungent and served in a small format bottle. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 02-April-2013 for US$2.79 sampled at home in Washington on 08-May-2013.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Frisco Grille, Columbia: Pours a transparent deep golden bronze with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh abundant resiny grapefruity hops with some pale malty sweetness underneath. Starts with good fullness and a nice light caramely sweetness with lots of assertive citrusy bittering and flavor hops before a drier, crisp bittersweet finish. Very flavorful, yet well balanced and quite hoppy hiding its alcohol well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Medium sized offwhite head, good retention with some spotty lacing. Clear gold color. Nicely resiny nose, bubblegum, pine and citrus, juicey and inviting. Almost medium bodied, resiny with a soft carbonation. Citrusy, resiny hop flavors with notes of peach some tangerine and a little sweet malts hangin around. Finish is lightly sweet but packin a nice hop bitterness. Maybe just a hint to sweet but otherwise proably the best DIPA coming outta Delaware right now, at least from my expierences as of late. Nice west coast style DIPA. Growler supplied by my friend and fellow beer drinker ZuBru. Thanks ken!
