3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hfmejias (352) - Dover, Delaware, USA - APR 3, 2013
12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured clear, bright orange with a medium off white head. Very by the book IPA aroma, mostly pine, with citrus notes and some malt hints. Taste is quite consistent with the aroma, start quite bitter and hoppy, follow by some sweetness, caramel and grain flavors, balanced, the Alcohol is very well hidden. Solid offering, very nice beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 elgiacomo (733) - Ringgold/Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, USA - MAR 25, 2013
12oz bottled February 2013. Served at around 40F.
Pours lightly hazy copper/amber with a one finger off-white head that leaves a ring of lacing and recedes to a small cap.
Aroma is primarily pine, along with earthy & resinous hops, hint of citrus rind, some apricot, decent caramel and bready malt backbone. OK aroma. Good strength.
Flavor is pine, resinous & earthy hops, apricot, touch of citrus, decent bit of caramel and a grainy malt presence, mild to moderate sweetness, strong bitterness, moderate alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, oily, good carbonation.
Solid IPA, but nothing spectacular. Glad to have a chance to try it, but there are better ones out there.
5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 kevdude (2) - Westminster, Maryland, USA - MAR 23, 2013 does not count
Fantastic, in yo face IPA! Very nice, clean finish. Nicely unbalanced (heavy duty hop character). What an IPA should be.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 GSH1976 (124) - Delaware, USA - MAR 17, 2013
After having Evolution’s Lot 6 and really liking it I was anxious to give this one a try. Pours a very light amber with ample head. Aroma is what I expect from an IPA and consists mainly of pine but there are also hints of citrus, floral and tropical fruit. Taste follows the nose and is very clean and crisp. The body is medium and the finish is slightly dry. Although this beer lacks the complexities of many DIPAs I think it is a very well done IPA and would make an excellent session beer. Next weekend I am going to try some other offerings from Evolution because the two I have had so far were both excellent. I think the rating here is a little low.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 chronictonic (454) - Oreland, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 15, 2013
On tap Union Jacks (north hills). Nicely balanced big and bold IPA with good combination of fresh hop flavors and well pronounced bitterness. Body was just a bit sweet for me, but overall I’ve really like the beers that Evolution has been producing.
