3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Reviewed 2/18/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.
A: Pours a very dark burnt sienna color. Itís not completely opaque at all, like many porters tend to be. The head is a one finger offwhite shade that fades into a thin film with some collaring around the edge of the glass.
S: A fairly chocolaty porter; itís more dry than milky sweet, though. Some nuts, dark unroasted malts, and hazelnut coffee tie these qualities together. Not particularly grabbing or expressive, but good.
T: Even drier than the nose suggested. There are some roasted nuts to start, some lactose cream flavors in the midtaste, and a finish of coffee with just a hint of dry chocolate. I also notice a twinge of finishing hops; not just in the light bitterness, but with the mildly acidic and mineral-esque kick in the aftertaste, as well.
M: Light bodied, with good carbonation, and a crisp, dry finishing kick. About what I expect from a porter.
O: For better or worse, itís a standard porter. Granted, itís a standard porter thatís executed quite well; however this lacks many qualities that would enable it to stand out from its brethren. Itís one to consider purchasing, but perhaps not one to seek out.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at GBBF 2015. Dark brown, small bubbly white head. Aroma is candy floss, sweet dried dough, some red berry. Body is medium to light, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is cola, some ashy bitterness. Nice aroma but a bit of a thin flavour. Came across like a mild.

Cask gravity at gbbf 2015 day 3. Thanks to Colin. But brown coloured pour with a lasting halo of white head. Aroma is vanilla, fruit cake, booze, sherry, cakey malts. Flavour is raisin and dried fruits. Oily. Palate is semi sweet, oily. Lowish carbonation. Interesting enough.

Draft at Spacebar. Black with bare lite tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, lite coffee, ash. Taste is similar, with hint of chocolate. Thin, bit watery. Good enough to drink a couple, but not to seek out.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
First impressions: rather light for a porter, not as complex as hoped for. However, as it warms a bit and I keep sipping, it's flavors grow, but not to where I'd expect from a 7 malt beer. I detect hints of coffee, a little chocolate, and very subtle smoke on the tongue but surprisingly not on the nose. Overall, a decent porter but less than I'd hoped for.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice black color, but has no lacing or head retention. I expected it to smell more of chocolate and burnt coffee, but those are barely present. It is more bitter than most porters I have had. Reminds me more of a black ipa than a porter.

This is an OK porter....slightly above average but nothing really special here. Thereís some roasty coffee and chocolate flavors, though the texture and balance could be a little better. Evolution just made it down here to FL. My first sample from them, so Iíll give one of their other styles a try.
