Draft - Baltimore Beer Week Opening Tap Party - 50% of this was aged in Heaven Hill barrels and blended with it’s counterpart in stainless steel. Hazed dark amber, thick off white creamy head (great lacing). Intense aromas of vanilla-coconut, bourbon, and wood over a soft undercurrent of candied plum and fig througout. Flavors are very well balanced and integrated as sweet dark fruits ride warming waves of bourbon, coconut, wood, and swirls of vanilla bean custard. Full bodied and very smooth, soft carbonation, semi-sweet malt and booze finish. A fantastic sipper as this one easily got my best for the evening...

Ok here goes. I passed on this keg seven times because I was to uncertain about what might be in store. I wish I had taken the keg home on the first pass. This is an exceptional beer as are all the Evolution offerings. Pours a darker reddish color almost like sweet tea. Has a very thick tan head with a very nutty aroma to it. Taste is very complex with many flavors peeking through. Some Toffee, Butterscotch, hints of vanilla on the front and a nice oak aged bourbon taste in the middle with a comples maltyness that can’t really be explained. The alcohol is very high and will show itself if you over indulge. Oh and did I mention I really like this one. I hope you all enjoy another fine offering from Delaware/now Marylands best little brewery.

Deep red pour with a thin white head. Woody booze and sweet dark sugars lead to caramel and toffee. Medium body with low carbonation levels and a sticky finish.

Hazy golden color, thick tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of grass, flowers, light pine. Taste is moderately bitter lightly spiced pine resin. Nice.

Courtesy of douglas88 pouring up clear copper to light brown with tan head. The aroma is all coconut, bourbon and a bit of vague spiciness. The taste starts with a mix of soured beer tartness and spicy oak that doesn’t go too well together. It then picks up a modest level of roasted maltiness, sweet coconut and then more smooth bourbon into the finish. The smooth sweetness is then interrupted by more tart and sour beer notes and sort of a rye booze mixing with a red wine tart quality. Interesting and at odds with itself.

22 oz. bottle from a ba trade. Pours a slightly hazy amber/copper color with a small off white head. The aroma has sweet caramel, hints of butter (not in a bad way), vanilla, cherry notes and bourbon. Woodford barrels? The flavor has big barrel notes up front with rum and bourbon, caramel, buttery notes, and vanilla. The body is too thin to pull off the barrel notes and the alcohol.

Pours a murky amber color with a small off-white head. Smells incredibly mild and bland. There is a little bit of fruit, maybe some oak, vanilla and toffee malts. The flavor is also fairly bland. Some toffee and brown sugar with a bit of vanilla and dark fruits. Really just not a lot going on in this one. A bit thin body with medium carbonation.

The Bourbon is strong in this one. It’s not as smooth as I would like. It can use some aging.

Bomber thanks to SS. Pours a opaque red/brown color with a small white head. A rich bourbon and malty nose, some fruit (strawberries). The flavor is a rich and somewhat hot brew with few Scotch ale characteristics, more barrel and some tart fruit. The sourness is certainly there but it mellowed with warming. Sweet berries and some toffee. Interesting. Vanilla. I liked this a lot more as it warmed. A bit thin.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear dark brown color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium toasted malt, wood and earthy bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy bourbon sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. A smooth complex drinkable brew.

woodstock isn’t much of a flyer .. . pours a telephone pole brown .. . medium foam, light spraying of foam .. . mostly light bourbon, molasses, dryed cat food and light rum .. . good stuff .. . . Well, what do you wear to a cat show?.. A disguise.
