3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Mariís. Pours black with some red around the edges. There is a huge tan head on top that sticks around. Mild carbonation in the glass. The aroma is ultra roasty with some lightbitter chocolate present. Very limited complexity. The taste has a nice chocolate kick with some extra sweetness, almost a mocha flavor on the finish. There is a huge carbonation kick on this that nearly stings the tongue.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle This was a gift from a friend while at Snowshoe. The porter poured a deep black with mahogany edges. The tan head stayed with the beer with lacing that was limited. This is a joy to drink with the nutty nose and some dark chocolate notes. There is a hint of licorice and some smokiness. The carbonation was soft but suited the porter. The finish was well balanced and pleasant.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Bottle via trade - thanks Chris! Very dark pour with a monster carbonated head. This one tastes quite sour - kind of drowns out the chocolate and roasted coffee that Iím sure is supposed to be front and center with this beer. Possibly infected?

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle: Pours a dark, chestnut brow, almost black. Little tan head dissipates quickly. Aroma of roasted malts, grassy hops, slight smokey vanilla and licorice. Taste is a big malt profile with a hint of almost burned coffee beans thrown in. Cocoa, slight spruce hop finish. Sweet on the front and slightly bitter on the finish. Slick on the palate, slides down easy. Pretty good.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle - pours jet black with so much foam that I had to wait to pour the rest in the glass. I did detect a a chocolate and smoke flavor but for the most part this brew just wasnít all that appealing. The mouthfeel seemed really thin as well. Drinkable but it wonít be on my want list again.

some acrid smoke a touch of caramel and plastic. after some time a juicy citrus fruity plastic seems evident. more time produces the disjointed different grains. perhaps infected. body on the lighter side of moderate and foam is caustic and weak.

Am I drinking a chocolate cigarette? I like it. Rich thick dark burnt caramel tones. Cabin in the woods with a dog fire and a hand log.
