Aromas are faint, roast predominates, burnt coffee. Dark red-brown with amber highlights, and a fully fading head. Roasty, dry, a touch of black fruit, cassis maybe, a faint creamy note. Medium bodied, pretty smooth.

Draft at SoBo. Pours dark brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like roasted grains , sweet malt, toast, light earth, and light coffee. Light/medium body and carbonation. Light aroma of roasted grains and earth.

Dark brown-black body, thin pale tan head, sparse lacing. Light smoke, roasted fruity coffee, bittersweet chocolate. Pleasant and mild. Medium bodied, gentle carbonation, just a touch of sweetness and bitterness.

Bottle. Nose is very sweet and chocolaty with roast and a bit of syrup, light nuts and minerals. Pours dark brown with a bubbly tan head. Light body, medium bitterness and gorgeous roast, chocolate backs off to medium, crisp carbonation and mild fruitiness, also the rise of some good coffee and even hints of smoke. Aftertaste is somewhat drier and really allows the roast to shine. Great balance with this one, and an excellent flavor. Probably a little too much aggression in the mf for me, but I’d be happy to return to this well.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is a little too sweet with a heavier caramel component than chocolate malt aroma. Still, some chocolate and light roast notes though. The flavor is just as sweet, with a heavy burnt caramel dominance. Finishes with a little sweet milk chocolate and light roast coffee. A fairly minimal hop bitterness, but some hop flavors come out late in the finish. Medium bodied and a little clingy with fizzy carbonation. Not the best Porter, too much emphasis on the sweet caramel malt.

Bottle into English pint glass, very dark brown with tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, slight dark fruit and smoke. Taste brings out prominent chocolate notes and some nuttiness. Medium body, light carbonation, dry with some lingering roast on the finish. Like the coffee aroma to chocolate taste transition, good porter.

This is simply the best porter I've very tasted. Delicious. Smoky. Smooth.

Porter is a style of beer that is drinkable if it’s just average or excellent. Lucky 7 delivers the flavors of dark roasted malts and a light bitterness. Greatness eludes this porter.
