Good stuff. Black with reddish hilights. Coffee and chocolate come through in aroma and taste, along with a smokiness to the malts. I could drink a lot more of this porter.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours turbid dark brown with minor ruby edges through direct light and a 1-finger off-white head. Nose is black patent malt, cacao, roasty slight rauchy. Tastes smooth, medium in palate heft and complexity, with flavors of black patent malt, cacao, mild nuts, coffee, hops, and a roasty dry finish.

Tasting a brewery. Pour is a dark brown with a small head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and some vanilla. Taste follows suit with a hint of brown sugar in the finish. As others have said, it seems to be more of a brown ale. Not bad though.

A: very dark brown, medium head, no lace
S: various malts, brown sugar
T: Tastes more like a brown ale than a porter, in many ways. That being said, it’s a nice brew. Malty, with a touch of sweet brown sugar. There is a subtle smokiness and toffee flavor. Not as complex as I had hoped, after reading seven malts were used, but again, a nice brew.
M: moderate carbonation, decent aftertaste
D: I’d have this again, but I wouldn’t actively seek it out.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, roast, chocolate, slight coffee, and dust. Poured dark brown in color with a small, tan/brown head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, roast, light chocolate, dust, and a hint of coffee. Medium body. Chalky, lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Light to medium, sweet, malt, chocolate, dust, roast finish.

Poured from the bottle into a 4oz sampling glass to drink. The beer had a dark brown-black color with a dark amber-brown hue, an average-sized, creamy dark tan head with average retention and cling, but good lacing. Its aroma featured a blend of malts featuring caramel, coffee, and chocolate, along with touches of molasses and a bit of earthy hops. The taste had a sweet, fruity burst, touches of caramel and raisin on the front of the tongue, and a somewhat sour toffee component. It was a wet beer with an average thickness and was somewhat creamy and smooth. Thank you to Eric and Siobhan for the tasting.

Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla and a very faint smokiness. Roasted coffee flavor with a dry, roasty finish. Thin palate with average carbonation.

Dark brown w/ quickly dissipating tan head. Sweet aroma of chocolate and vanilla, slight citrus notes. Taste is more complex...vanilla, citrus, apples, pale malts, and maybe some coffee...Has a cider taste to it. Thin body and lots of carbonation. Too sweet for me. Very dry. Interesting "porter" nonetheless.

Tap @ brewery. Pours deep, dark brown with thin, creamy beige head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, and light smoke. Flavor is malt dominate with light hops and esters; dry finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.
