Bottle. Pour was golden w/ a seemingly slight haze (in the dark, though), ok head and weak lacing. The aroma was rum, raisins, honey, light fruits, faint oak. The flavor followed, somewhat of a dry finish, the alcohol super well hidden. Mouthfeel body was moderate to light for anything like it in abv!

Pours a cloudy golden brown with about 2 fingers of off white head that fades fast with no lace. Nose and taste are a well balanced combination or equal parts: rum, bread, caramel, malt, nuts, booze, and sweet fruits. I was afraid this beer would taste to rum-y (not a big rum drinker) for me but that was not the case at all. While the rum is there its not over powering. This beer is worth seeking out IMO. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle: pours a slightly murky deep amber bronze with an effervescent froth of white head. Has a sweet dark caramel malty nose with some rum raisin complexity and a touch of vanilla oak. Body starts with good fullness and sweet sugary caramel malt with some mild boozy rum flavors and light oxidation before a slightly warming creamy sweet finish. Well balanced, complex and should age well.

Bottle via SL.... Murkey light red color, with a really small head that faded quickly... Nose of big booze...apples, some figs, rasions... Taste is sweet boozey, fruity beer. Lots of apples, rasions, but really just a sweet boozy beer. Carbonation level is very low, almost flat like (oily) I wish it had more cabonation.... Overall: Glad I tried it, but glad i didnt drink the bottle by my self.

Medium sized off white head with fair retention and lace. Hazy copper orange color. Nose of light booze and fruit, lil citrus. Body is medium, nice carbonation and oilyness. Rum is dominant, buries any golden ale aspects, fairly sweet with some faint grainy notes. Finish is a bit sweet, really.Coulda shoulda been more.

750 ml bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2 thanks Brad!) poured a clear orange amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of rum, oak, vanilla, carmel, light coconut and a hint of fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a warming finish. Flavors of rum, carmel, oak, coconut and vanilla with a crisp warming lingering rum finish. I really enjoyed this one!

Thanks to bmanning for opening this bottle. Served in a wine glass. Pours a nice golden color with a bit of a darker hue to it. Short head and a touch of lacing on the way down. The nose brings forward loads of rum. Really far too boozy with both rum character and straight alcohol. The flavor doesn’t get better with heavy booze and some harsh phenols. Pepper and spice in the background. Light-medium body with a heavy alcohol presence. Simply too much focus on the barrels, and fermentation may have gotten a bit out of control. Not a fan.

Bottle. Pours lightly hazy deep copper/amber with a small, fizzy white head, medium retention with faint lacing. Aroma is caramel and cookie, honey malt with light rum and vanilla notes, light oak and huge fruity esters. Flavor is light oak, medium alcohol, moderate malt and fruity esters, medium sweetness with a dry finish. Full body, high warmth, medium carbonation.

A: The pour is sort of bronze in color but is very cloudy. S: Lots of banana and sweet sugar notes to this. Definitely some rum with a rather impressive aroma of vanilla. Decently boozy with some other fruit notes such as pears, raisins, and apples. T: Rum and vanilla and oak to start it off. A slight spiciness which works well with the fruit flavors of pear, raisin, and apple. A lot of banana, too. A bit too much booze for my liking, though. M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. A touch grainy on the tongue. O: This was a bit better than the barrel aged stout, as it actually tastes somewhat like the beer and not just the barrel.

750 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, opened 7/20/11. Bottle 171 of 1200. Pours a clear medium red color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of oak and big rum notes along with faint stone fruits, hops and vanilla. The taste is toasted malts, rum, wood, plum, vanilla, maple, faint bitter hops in the finish. Medium bodied. This beer probably isn’t as intrinsically good as I’m going to rate it but this is made just to my liking. If it weren’t $15 a bottle, I’d get a case.
