Tie up to a light-bodied ale with the perfect balance of malt and hops. A little citrus aroma and a refreshing finish. It’s your first mate, it’s your fishing buddy, it’s your summer fling.

On draught at the Excelsior brewery’s taproom in Excelsior, Minnesota. Pours a semi-clear golden light amber (slightly lighter than the XLCR Pale Ale) with an decent sized off-whtie head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of both fruity and floral hops, golden grain malt, a hint of banana esters and light tropical fruit. Taste is medium to semi-full bodied, soft carbonation with plenty of golden grain, fruity malt notes, and some strong alcohol umfph. Finish has a nice balance of mild bitterness and extra golden grain malt. Bitterness is short lived followed by plenty of golden grain and fruity malt aftertaste. Alcohol was definitely higher than 6.0 percent, maybe closer to 6.5 percent which would put this into an imperial pils catagory. Normally I would prefer a golden ale at 5.0% or lower during a hot 105°F summer day. Their inauguration blonde ale would pair better with chicken & pasta with white sauce dinner than as a summer thirst quencher.

From a bottle on a warm sunny day on a big boat on Lake Minnetonka. This is a refreshing blonde ale with light amounts of fruit, grain, and banana. Nothing too strong, and it drinks light and easy. Almost as good as a gets for this style of beer for me.

Bomber poured a hazy gold with a small lasting white head. Aromas of straw, graininess, light earthiness and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of corn chips, light graininess and light earthiness with a smooth dry lingering corn chip finish.

Hazy golden pour. Refreshing, slightly bitter. Not bad but not something I need to have again.

Solid blond ale with slightly bitter aftertaste. A good consistency and fresh citrus smell. A good first effort to build on for excelsior.

On tap at brewery. Pours a clear yellow with no head. A nice blonde for the price.

I haven't wanted to put my mouth on a blonde so bad since my sophomore year of college. Marry me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler. Pours pale watery gold color with a tight sudsy head. Aroma has faint signs of fruit and grain and subtle lemongrass. Taste is slightly spicy with the malt and water taking over. Palate is thin watery and dry. Moving on...

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 Tap at the taproom. Pale gold pour with a nice foamy white head. Grain and some banana elements - drinks like a bold pils.
