A plethora of Munich malt drives this beer forward, with a subtle nutty flavor and an easy, dry finish. Prost!

At the Irish pub in Excelsior. a better than average brown. fairly thick palate. lots of malt and it is bitter with grain. it could use some more hops, but it has something to offer in a style that is rarely worth drinking.

Meh... Just your run of the mill, average brown ale. Taste what OK (what did you expect?). Not a big fan over the dry finish.

Pour on tap at Republic Calhoun, hazy dark red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, earth, slight caramel, toffee into a bit of yeast, slight bread into a bit of toast. Taste was a mix of toast, bread, caramel into a bit of spice, grass, slight toffee, finishing fairly sweet, slightly spicy.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Corey. Rich chestnut brown pour with burnt copper-orange edges; creamy, foamy beige head plumes up nicely on top & settles slowly. Aroma has a nice CaraMunich malt base. Toasty caramel notes, nuts, faint cocoa dust, a touch of toffee, & a hint of dark fruit sweetness, namely prune. Mild inclusion of musty earthiness, too. Starts to get a touch of apple-y tartness with some warmth... Uh-oh? Flavor... whoa! Sour apples & acetic acid are the first thing to hit my tongue. Vinegar, sourness, & acetone bury the malt base almost completely. Infected, by a long shot. Strange how it was surpassed in the aroma? Very weird. Sadly I must hammer the score as this was pretty gross.

Pours a deep reddish-brown, with minimal head. Aroma is very sour, fruity, almost like rotten bananas. Flavor starts a bit sour, with distinct nut favors in the finish. I wasn’t favorably impressed.

Sample at APN. Pour is a hazy, orange/brown with a good amount of head. Lots of caramel and toffee, solid beer for the style.

Great roasty aroma. Sweet and roasty taste with a full body. Caramel and nutty. This looks good and is a great example of the style.

At Stillwater Brewers Bazaar 7, Light brown pour, thin white head. Light nutty/malt aroma and taste, very light body/taste.

4 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s tap room. Consumed on 5-4-13. Pours a clear, light brown. Bitter, burnt chocolate smell. Dry taste features chocolate, muffin, and toffee flavors. Fruitiness in the taste: Plum, cherry. Medium body. Smooth and oily in the palate. Good beer, especially for a typically humdrum style. 7/3/7/3/14=>3.4

TAP. Coudy orange brown pour. Nut and caramel on the nose. Taste is sweet with a hint of bitterness.
