On draught at the Excelsior brewery’s tap room in Excelsior, MN. Pours a clear copper brown colored brew with an average creamy off-white top that slowly dissipates to a clear disk top. Aroma of floral hops, lightly toasted caramel and toffee-like malts, and a touch of dark pitted fruits. Taste has the typical Excelsior beer body - a touch heavier than the average Irish reds. Malty and even some balanced floral hops. Finish has a mild hop spice aftertaste with the profile of a Scotch wee-heavy. One of the few times I can see this as an hybrid Irish Red and a Scotch Wee Heavy ale.

4 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s tap room. Consumed on 5-4-13. Tart, dry smell. A touch of vomit in the aroma. Pours a clear brass with beige head. Fruity ale. Mineral taste. Lively in the palate. Light to medium body. Forgettable beer overall. 5/2/5/3/11=>2.6

Draft at brewery. No head or lace. Dark hazy brown body. Bready. Malty. Nice pleasant brew although nothing fantastic.

Tap at the tap room. Orange amber pour with a smaller white head. Pretty mild all the way around - bready malts with some caramel sweetness. Good session beer.

From Growler. Pours red amber and hazy with a quick off white head that leaves a wispy film and ring. Aroma has fruity mild hops caramel malt and bready sugars. Taste is sweet and bitter herbal hops and fruitiness with biscuit and caramel and a little spice in the finish. Palate is medium and chalky. I am surprised by this one, its pretty tasty!

Slight malty nose. Described by employee as a hybrid beer that was for St Patricks day. Easy drinking session beer at 5%. Not alot of depth. Will replace oar lock which is my favorite Excelsior beer so far. On tap at tap room
