It was a tasty malty gold lager. I would drink it again but it would not make my regulars list.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
on tap @ Exile Brewing / Des Moines IA --- Clear dark honey amber, rim head, no lace, a very still brew. Taste is mild caramel malt that moves without interest into a palte that offers no revelations. The finish may have light hops, it’s hard to tell. There is so little happening that I wonder if the lines were cleaned, or if this batch didn’t quite work. As is, not a keeper.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes a clear darker gold with a nice white head. Aroma of malt, grain, and caramel. Taste is the same. Very nice, well made, and a good example of the style.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 19, 2014 Tap @ Exile. Pours a clear dark golden appearance with a white head. Dry, sweet nutty, light caramel, herbal aroma. Very clean, dry grainy, a touch bready, lightly floral, light caramel flavor. Great way to be introduced to these guys! excellent lager. Old rating: 4.0. Update: tried again and it’s a touch husky and sweet. Solid but not as good as I remembered. New rating: 3.7

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap at the brewpub. A medium brass amber vrew with a thin white head. Nose is fruity and sweet dough. It tastes a little doughy with some yeast. Hints of pear core. There is also some hay. A decent light beer, but it has a weird woody finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a crystal clear, golden copper colored body with a finger-width, creamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is lightly sweetened malts with touches of grain and caramel. A light grassy citrus and herbal note as well. Flavor is pretty solid. Clean grass and lightly sweetened pils malts with a touch of grain, bread, and caramel. A light herbal note towards the end as this finishes clean, dry, lightly bitter, and lightly sweetened before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Medium-light, smooth body and a moderate, crisper carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid lager. Clean, crisp, dry, lightly bitter, and lightly sweetened. Very easy drinking and balanced. Nice beer.
