Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - October to April.
Exmoor Beast is a dark beer which is brewed with liberal use of chocolate and crystal malts. The beer has the characteristics of a strong Porter, whilst retaining the typical Exmoor taste - a superb blend of malt and hops with a complex long aftertaste.
Ingredients: Pale malt, crystal malt, chocolate malt. Challenger, Fuggles and Goldings whole hops. OG 1066. 40 IBU. 100 EBC colour units.

Cask handpull at White Horse, Parson’s Green. Very deep ruby colour with lasting beige head. Subtle dark malt aroma. Burnt toast. Good dark strong beer, good mouthfeel. Not great, but extremely competent. Bit of creamy vanilla too. 3.5/5 Re-rate at Metro Bar, JDW, Baker Street. I missed this at the beer festival last year, so pleased to see it. Very deep mahogany, lasting thin beige, lovely choccy strong ale, lots of dry malt. Lots of malty fruity flavour. Tasty as hell, just a little syrupy. Alcohol is well contained in the big malts. Excellent. Dryish finish.

Cask@GBBF. Deep amber color, small off-white head. Nutty, grassy aroma. Medium-bodied. Sticky glueish-nutty and malty flavor. A bit sweet. Tasty.

A Mes rate: cask at Baker St ’Sporks.
Dark mahogany with a lasting beige head. A good looking beer. Rich bready malt aroma with lots of cake and dark fruit and strong notes of liquorice. Simlar flavour with some clear but inoffensive alcohol. Rich and warming finish with plenty of sweetness that is just about held in check. Pretty good beer overall.

Deep-brown, almost black. Really sweet buttery toffee malts, some slight roasty finish to give it some balance.I think theres too much butter toffee and raisins in there, really not my kind of beer.

Cask at troon beer fest 07. Aroma is liquirce, molasses. Taste is very full on tarrish alcohol liquice and very sweet. RERATE: Cask in Counting House. Full bodied! Sweet, cloying, roasty, liquyirice, coffee, molasses. Soo heavy and alcoholic i could only take 3 or 4 sips out the half pint then left.

Cask Persistent dense tan head; nearly black beer. Sweetish, some stout-like dark grains nose. Vanilla and some fruity esters. Quite to really sweet; liquorice-like, liquified sugar... and very few things beery. Full-bodied, slick, not quite viscous. Alcoholic to a certain extent. Disappointing - one more. It was better at some moor-tucked Devon pubs in Easter, than in an unseasonaly warm WHOPG.

Cask Conditioned. Beware the Beast for he creeps up on you. A big dark beer with roasted malt, chocolate, prunes. This does not drink its strength, the night was young and the warning signs were there, but we had to go and have a sesh. It drinks like a best bitter with more flavour, but boy when he kicks in. I don't like Exmoor Beast, I love it! as I've heard before in another context.
