Hand pulled pint into a UK sleeve during the 2011 Wetherspoons Autumn Beer Fest.
Don’t see this beer outside of its home county too often so leapt at the chance to have a pint when I saw it in London while visiting my son.
Dark brown in appearance with a hop spicey aroma that fills the nose.
The taste however is more malty than hoppy, although towards the end of the mouthfeel you get a dry, semi-bitter hop finish.
Hops used are: Brewer’s Gold, Challenger, Goldings and Styrian Gold.
Considering the selection of hops in the brew I was surprised the overall feel is of a malty beer, but it certainly isn’t hoppy.

13th October 2011 Crosse Keys Spoons. Slightly hazy amber beer, small white head. Fairly neutral palate. Low carbonation. Well balanced with some dried fruits and orangey hop. Finishes semi dry.

Hand pulled cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW) Watford. Copper with an off white head. Another solid beer from Exmoor, with great UK hop blending and a earthy woody malt profile.

Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Copper, red with a bubbly head. Aromas are vinous with berries and dry, earhty hops. Quite peppery with hints of toffee. Flavours are caramel with berries and yeasty, peppery notes. Dry and nutty with spices to finish. Not bad.

Cask at the Cornfield Garage (JDW), Eastbourne. Chestnut with a thin cream head; caramel aroma; rich caramel flavour with roasted malts; and an earthy finish. I was expecting something with more punch from Exmoor, so this was rather disappointing.

Cask. A nut-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as light notes of nuts, leading to a dry nutty finish.
