3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20A fairly spicey number. Frigid nutmeg nose, ambling white head and consistent brown body. Intriguing sweetness like accidentally tasting the inside of the banana skin, quickly melting into a medium dry finish. Probably their most moreish ale. A nice blend of malts and hops in the aroma, but this is a poor textured ale.

Cask @ Willow Walk, JDW, Victoria SW1. Pours a clear copper color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty and slightly hoppy aroma with some hints of caramel. Fruity malty slightly earthy hoppy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel finish with some hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

Hazy deep amber color; compact head. It has some caramel aroma, but very light. Caramel flavor, with traces of chocolate. The mouthfeel tends to be dry at the end, and watery, and the chocolate is rising. Common.

Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Amber brown with a small head. Aromas are malty with earthy hops and berries. Some cream and spices. Flavours are vinous with sweet malts. Dry, peppery hops with more fruitiness towards the finish. Not very bitter on the finish. Decent.

Cask, third pint glass at JDW real ale festival at Standing Order in Edinburgh. Bubbly surface over an amber coloured body. Floral and fruity aroma. Rounded flavour of fruity hops leading to a modest bitter ending. Dry and smooth in the mouth [11.11.2008].

Handpulled cask at JDW St. Albans. Amber with plenty of white head. Smooth and malty with one dimentional hop bitterness. Pretty typical of Exmoors other beers.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol. Amber with a decent white head. Aroma of hay, caramel and summer fruit. easy drinking, with some sweet malt flavours leading to a lingering bitter finish. Good stuff.

Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes in Wetherspoons BF ’08. Amber with a small white head. Pleasant sweet malty aroma and taste. Also some grainy biscuit and a mid bitter finish. I thought this was pretty good.
