Bottle from Vintage Cellar shared at the WWGT2D? Charlottesville tasting, 4/5/14. Pours a dark brown color with a thin brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, earth, mild fruit. The taste is dark fruits, chocolate, roasted malts. Medium bodied, low carbonation. 50th Baltic Porter!

Bottle @ The WWGT2D? Tasting. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The nose is somewhat oxidized. Plenty of cardboard dipped in Hershey’s Syrup. Cherry meat. A bit of roasted malts. The taste is wood, more cardboard. Chocolate cookies and brown bread. Medium body, soft carbonation. Meh-inducing.

Pours an inky black with a very minimal dark tan head. The aroma is heavy, with lots of licorice and roasted malts. Slightly smoky with faint chocolate as well. The taste is roasty and full of chocolate. However, there seems to be some metallic flavors as well. Quite a bit of caramel that seems to increase in potency as it lingers on your palate. Aftertaste is caramel and chocolate. It lasts a long time, but becomes rather rank the longer it sits on your tongue. Medium in body with a slick texture, and lacking in carbonation. This isn’t the best.

Aroma deep chocolate , alcohol , tad smoky meaty phenolic feel, backed by molasses. Slight alcohol on top end. Overall nice blend.7+
Appearance : 3+
Top: lighter beige , fine rocky top, sparse lace.
Base: dark brown.
Palate : medium full bodied with below average carbonation.
Taste: Soft, chalky with chocolate malts, hinted by meaty smoke. Alcohol well hidden.

Dry porter, with cocoa in the aroma, and a wiff of smoke. It tastes precisely the same, dry and cocoa and booze in the finish. Thickish pour.Radek’s bottle.

Pours a dark chocolate brown a whisker above black with a nice, though not persistent, light tan head. Aroma tempts with notes of licorice, chocolate and roast malt notes. Sweet flavor has chocolate, caramel, licorice and subtle roast malt notes, not strong but still pleasing. Texture has about average fizz and viscosity, leaving a chocolaty and surprisingly hoppy finish. OK, maybe the Czechs still haven’t figured out how to brew outstanding porters, but this is certainly acceptable.
