On tap at the brewpub on 03/12/2010. Clear very dark black body with ruby highlights and a medium creamy light brown head. Big chocolate and roast aroma. Big chocolate and roast flavor with a bit of black patent. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Deep, dark brown color. Cocoa head that lasts. Choclate and bitter hops in the aroma. Flavor is dominated by coffee. Milky consistency. Foamy, silky finish, with just a hint of hops.

Dark brown pour with tan head and lace. chocolate and medium coffee on the nose. Taste mirrors aroma almost exactly. Nice malt bitter finish. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. One of my more preferred styles but the score is because this beer was the only one of the 4 that really stood out and tasted and smelled like anything other than your standard brewpub fare.

From a growler. Pours black with a small tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, chocolate malts and roasty malts, and soft coffee. Taste is big coffee and dark chocolate with huge roasted malt notes. Since this is a barbecue place brewing this, I imagine this would be smashing with some sweeter barbecue sauces. Body is medium and creamy with soft carbonation and light lingering bitterness. Finishes with more dark chocolate notes, coffee, and roasted malts. Bit of burnt caramel and faint smoke as well. Nice!
