Impenetrabile color mogano con riflessi rubino. Schiuma cappuccino, aderente allo stile, compatta e persistente.

33cl bottle @ home. Better to sip this alone, I tried it along with some pistacchio chocolate, but the very best of it came after a few sips without it. Pour a black liquid, with shades of brown, head is small but persistent Nose is raw but very interesting, I get ground coffee, tobacco, cocoa, I’d say a little leather and a warm sweet liquorice and dark fruits note after a while. Very harsh and bitter at first sip, it gives its best in the end, with some really slight alcoholic sweetness and a hint of acidity that makes it drinkable. Long pleasant aftertaste. If I was to describe this beer in a word it would be rustic, I had more "elegant" imperial stouts, more chocolatey, but this is one of my favourites.

Nera impenetrabile, senza schiuma. Odore legnoso, liquoroso, caffè, tostato, liquirizia. Setosa, oleosa in bocca, carbonazione assente; sapore liquoroso, caffè, tostato, legno, tabacco. Difficile da bere virtualmente senza rifermentazione in bottiglia. Peccato.

Fassbier. Kaffee und Zartbitterschokolade! Röstaromen, leichte Süße. Man riecht schon, was man anschließend schmeckt. Sehr dunkel, wenig Schaumkrone. Im Abgang bleibt die Schokolade lang erhalten. Sehr lecker.

Lots and lots of foam when pouring. Aroma has cold coffee, some chocolate, ash and hints of vegetables. A bit stinging palate, too much CO2. Flavour has cold coffee, chocolate, licorice and hints of vegetables. Also some ashy vichy notes typical to beers too high on CO2. Somewhat enjoyable despite all that.

2015-09-23. Dark brown-black body with a small beige head. 3+ Aroma is pleasant, dusty coffee and roast malt. Flavour has nice sweet dark malt core. Dusty toasty coffee. strongly roasty. Smooth average to medium bodied palate, soft carbonation. 3+ Solid, well made but not for me. On tap at Craft Clerkenwell, London, UK.

33cl bottle I picked up at a little bottle shop in the countryside north of Verona. Big pop and lots of fizzy brown head that settled over a watery but black body had me worried about infection. Nose doesn’t show it though, quite a nice bouquet of coffee beans, some brown sugar, toast, mocha. Flavor has cola, licorice, coffee sure, mocha, toast, some char. Full bodied, spritzy finish.

33cl @ bottle.

Bottle from Plonk (December 2013, cellared). Opaque black, large tan head settled to creamy thin layer, massive coffee nose and flavour, bit of vanilla, dry roast malt, chocolate, tobacco leaf, smooth creamy texture, boozy bitter finish. Nice.
