COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Good sized, lasting, white head on a hazy golden body. Some pepper notes on the aroma along with some lime. Medium body, mainly light spice in the taste but easily drinkable.

Bottle, from Dranken Geers, Oostakker nr Gent, Belgium June 2012 consumed at WOMAD Friday 27th July 2012 Watching a band and stood up amongst quite a throng, so tricky rating. This certainly had some typical Saison attributes but was a little muted in terms of flavour and aroma. Howevet to be fair it is now quite dark outside and I cannot really determine the colour all I can smell is burnt cheese which I’m sure is from a food stall. Beer seems fine but tasting this in testing conditions will re-rate again at some point. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

In short: A dry and very dusty blonde Saison. I liked it but wouldn’t recommend it
How: Bottle 330ml, another gift from good-ol-Paul, exact age unknown, consumed 6 months before expiration date
The look: (A bit of a gusher) Cloudy dirty blonde body, lots of small particles, medium white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is like shaking an old dusty rug face in the wind. That’s a lot of dusty yeast, old dusty attic and some dried flowers. Taste is also dominated by the dusty yeast which makes for a very mouth-drying sensation. There is also dried flowers, notes of your grandma’s peppermint, minerals/spicy sensation (white-pepper), dry salty crackers, yellowed dry grass. Aggressive carbonation, hard to keep the beer in the mouth. Very very rustic and the keywords here are “dry” and “dusty”. For lovers of the style only. It was very nice of my ratebeer buddy Paul to give me this beer because he know I’m a Saison lover, but the coolest thing about ratebeer is after 7 years on this site, after spending hundreds of hours typing ratings, after completing a few hundred trades, if I was to quit it all tomorrow there would be at least 3 or 4 people who would care for almost 20 minutes.

Slightly hazy golden colour, firm white head. Aroma of hay, lots of yeast, generic sweets (zuurtjes), light barnyard. Malty sweet flavour, bread, light fruity. Malty sweet finish, quite herbal, light cloying.
Starts out nice, but can’t keep it up.

Bottled. A murky golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, spices, and yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of spices, lemons, yeast, and malt, leading to a dry yeasty finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
