3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 OSLO (1133) - Ames, Iowa, USA - APR 7, 2009
[1988 Bottle, thanks for sharing this rarity, ygtbsm94!] Pours dark golden with a small white head. Funkiness in the aroma is pretty subdued, with a decent amount of sourness that turns semi-sweet at times. Pretty nice. The taste starts a little sweet as well, then turns funky, especially in the finish, that is dry. Smooth with pretty good mouthfeel. A very well-rounded gueuze, and an awesome experience to get to try something this old.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 MeadMe (977) - Riverview, Florida, USA - JUN 19, 2010
1984 Vintage.
A: Pours a cloudy orangish pink with a small head. No retention or lace to speak of.
S: Aromas of funky cheese, earthy barn yard funk. Mild floral notes with hints of hay and citrus.
T: Just wow, a real drinking experience. So complex for a gueuze. Citrus and cheese. Earth and cheese. Perfect level of acid, and vinegar. Boldly sour.
M: Light and zippy. Very dry finish.
D: Awesome. Expertly crafted, one of the best beers to ever pass my lips.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackForestCO (958) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - MAY 3, 2009
84 vintage shared by mj, thanks man. Poured a lightly hazy orange color with some brown edges and a bubbly white head that faded to a thin layer. Tart, funky aroma with some dry fruit (berry and apple skin), some horse blanket, and a strong barnyard yeastiness. Crisp, lightly tart entry with some tart fruit (berry, green apple) and some funky barnyard yeastiness that imparts some nice horse blanket and cobweb flavors before finishing with some dry woodiness. Low carbonation, smooth and puckering on the palate. Very enjoyable beer, thanks a bunch to Mike for sharing.

RBSG Tasting. Officially the oldest beer I’ve had. 1984. Crazy shit. Really effing crazy. Aroma is corky and old. Seriously weird as shit, cigar ash sour-I love it though. Cheese that fills the sinuses.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Madsnp (896) - DENMARK - JUL 12, 2009
Bottle at WSF. 1988 vintage. Pours hazy golden coloured with a thin white head. Oxidized aroma with notes of marzipan, rotten wood, berries, earth, forest floor and some spices that tickles the nose. Dry and tart flavour with mouldy notes of mature beer, tannins, balsamic vinegar and spice - almost hot.. Amazing brew, even after 21 years in a cellar.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Martinus (873) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2008
We had vintage 1984, at the Verzekering tegen grote dorst, in Eizingen. Beautiful beer, has not lost any flavour in its great age. Or, if it did, it must have been even more marvelous.
Slightly orangy yellow. Head disappears instantly, but logically it is not poored in such a way that it can develop a good one either. Lemony citrus aroma, bread and some apples. Very dry finish. Great way to start a day!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HonusWagner (796) - Florida, USA - MAY 29, 2011
1982 Bottle thanks to Dstructo at Stone Sour Fest. Thought I’d put in my rating but couldn’t find it.
Extremely muddy brown color, but that’s to be expected. Taste was heavy on lactic tartness, very funky and resembling an extremely moldy cheese. Pretty drinkable, although a touch of vinegar has no doubt poked through from age. Good beer, one that has held up amazingly well.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MPA (715) - Amager (form. Nørrebro&Aalborg), DENMARK - NOV 21, 2007
Bottle, vintage 92 (cell phone rating). Amber with off white head. Sour and sweetish aroma of berries. Sweet flavour with sugar and berries present. Thx Engelsmann.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Kestral (494) - Årnes, NORWAY - JAN 21, 2010
’82 bottle at Ebenezer’s. Poured a murky dark yellow/orange, the head faded pretty fast. Carbonation was surprisingly lively though. Aroma was massively earthy. Cheese, dust, wood, wet forest, hay, with some vinegar and lemony citric notes. Very dry finish. Very cool to have tried a beer older than myself, and a good one at that!
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Scauca (490) - Lovere, ITALY - MAY 1, 2009
1988 Vintage 37,5 bottle @ Akkurat. Deep golden with a lasting creamy white head I’ve never expected to see in a beer like this. The aroma is sweet, a little oxidized and quite corky, but funky and lively nevertheless. A strange mix of sweetness and sourness. The flavour is sweet with just a little lemony tartness.
