Bottle at the Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation 2008. 1988 vintage: Cloudy amber with a thin film of bubbles that run to the sides of the glass. Aromas seem a bit subdued but very nice. Normal barnyardy funk with lactic acid, tart fruits, some white wine vinegar. Good musty earthiness and a touch of cork. Slightly grassy, or hay. Possibly a touch of malt in the back? Smooth is definitely the word! Once tasted you see how well this beer has aged. No negative effects from oxidation. Good tight sourness that is well blended into all the complex flavors. Fruity tartness. Apples. Mouth watering. Earthy. Finishes with a long dry acetic nature. Light sherry build-up towards end. Fantastic!

Sep 22, 2008 Bottle @ WSF - Vintage 1998. Hazy orange with no head. Sour aroma with barnyard, wood, lemon, leather and horseblanket. Sour flavour with notes of barnyard, wood, lemon and horseblanket. Nice tart and dry finish. Lovely!

Sep 4, 2008 Cloudy orange colour with a small white head. Light fruity tart and ,alty sweet aroma with wood notes. Fruity flavor with light tart notes and hints of wood and dust.

Jul 31, 2008 Major thank you to beastiefan2k for sharing this 1988 vintage bottle! Pours a cloudy dull gold. Lots of barnyard, musty wood, and damp earth in the aroma along with some light lemon vapors. Very complex. The flavor is tangy and sour with more lemon and less funk than the aroma. Moderately effervescent and lively on the tongue. This was a real treat, thank you!

Jul 31, 2008 HUGE thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing this 20 year old bottle - freakin’ awesome - hazy straw colored beer - a lot of damn earth, cellar, cobweb in the aroma, with moderate undercurrents of blue cheese - a lot of leathery character in the aroma and flavor - enormous earthy complexity, and mild citrus tang - salivary gland stimulating sourness - some salty, briny qualities at the end - it’s certainly past it’s prime, though, as some stale, cardboard-ish notes are apparent - it’s still a real treat, though.

Jul 27, 2008 1988 vintage, thanks to beastiefan2k. Aroma of luscious strawberry-raspberry-lemon complexities, oak, horsey funk, some almost gasoline-like funk. Flavor of tart, sour fruits, lemon juice. Lacked that fulfilling funk in the mouth. Still, delicious.
