UPDATED: SEP 25, 2007 Draught at Akkurat, vintage 1989, courtesy of joergen. Dark cherry color, small off-white head. Intensive aroma of cherries, very full aroma. Fruity, fresh cherry flavoured, not very strong. You can taste berry stones there. Great stuff for being so old. (8/4/7/3/14 3.6)
Re-rated in 2007 with vintage 1989 in AkkuratA year older now: Sourish fruity cherry aroma. Sourish, balanced, extremely fruity lambic. Light notes of vinegar. (8/4/8/5/17 4.2)

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2006 Draught at Akkurat, 1989-vintage. Dark red coloured with a creamy off white head. Aroma of cherries and wood. Flavour of cherries, marzipan, cherry stones and wood. Dry finish.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm 29 April) – Vintage 89 - Red-brown unclear body, huge fast away head leaving beautiful laces; The nose is huge, not as clear as the Framboisen, but super complex, deep and very hard to distinguish: of cause lot of kriek, but in very sweet way (like preserved or candy like cherries), at the same time the nose is super fresh with notes I cant distinguish; Super balanced body with very little sourness, it is like the small about of carbonation (or maybe acidity) makes it a bit extra fresh; lots of sourness steps out in a very, very long finish with a superb balance. This beer has so much character and it is amazing. It seems like the Framboisen has taken the aging a little bit better.

Svesse (6065) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - APR 30, 2006
(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm 29 Apr, vintage 1989) Colour is dark brown/red, hazy, no head. Nose has a full aroma of dark cherries, hints of almonds, some sweetness. Taste is juicy, with a full cherry flavour and hints of almonds. Very long and tasty finish, lingers on forever. Some sweetness makes the balance lovely. The intensity and taste are astonishing - after 17 years, I’m impressed.

Bottle - best before 1993. Red-orange in colour, very little head, no lace. Aroma of maraschino cherries, cider vinegar, sugary sweet, oxidized. The flavour was of sugar cherry candy, quite sweet, some must still present. Dry mouthfeel, medium-light body, light carbonation. Finishes dry with a lingering sweetness. Wierd stuff. Almost completely lost all lambic characteristics.

Draught at Akkurat. Vintage 1989. Brownish dark red coloured. Very fruity for its age. Loads of cherries in the aroma and in the flavour. Very fresh, sour and acidic. Excellent.

375 ml bottle with BBD of 1993 so god knows how old, shared at the Ratebeer Mondial gathering. Dark thin clouds of yeast dominate the thin pinkish body which offers only the slightest trace of head...sweet cherry, almond, chocolate present in very oxidized nose with almost no lambic funkiness...sweet, thin body, ripe cherries and a touch of licorice, sort of a sweet-tart character, thin flat-soda body, little acidity. I don’t think the years have been kind, but I’m not sure that it started out with much either...

Sweet cherries and tomatoes in a sugary syrup with some notes of madeira in the very lightly acidic aroma. Opaque tan-orange with shy, off-white head that recedes to ring. Overly sweet sugary cherries with some mild musty yeast charcter but no real lambic sourness. Medium-light body with very soft, gentle carbonation. Bottle (BB 1993) sampled at the Ratebeer Mondial Gathering 2005.

ClarkVV (3892) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 13, 2005
Best Before 1993, 375mL bottle shared by Rastacouere at the Mondial Ratebeer tasting, 6/4/2005. Kriek cuvee speciale.
Tomato sauce colored beer, brownish-ruddy, light auburn tinges. Small white head recedes to ring providing light lacing (all the sugar they dumped in it, no doubt). Smells of sweet caramel and maraschino cherries, cider vinegar and a bit of yeast. Some actual sweet tomato sauce with honey in it. I guess that is the combination of sherry, sugar and cherries. Tastes massively sweet, with those maraschino cherries again. Some musty yeast flavor. No tart bret, no sour bacterias. Low, bubbly carbonation is gentle. Some cherry pit dryness, but it is barely noticeable. Watery. Maybe instead of Best Before, they should put Best after 2033, after which, hopefully, the sweetness will have come down another notch. So far this brewery is 0 for 2 in my book.

L’étiquette indique, à consommer de préférence avant 1993! Couleur orangée allant vers le brun terre, translucide. Peu de mousse blanche, pleinement diminuante. Nez de…jus de tomate dans le fond d’une canne de conserve! Le liquide est très madérisé, vieux miel asséché par le temps et sucré.. Pas vraiment de caractéristique sauvage, de ferme ou encore de Brettanomyce. Encore une petite touche de carbonatation de présente. Pour la science!
