Bought at Trinkgut (Kleve, Germany) raymondwave (714), Finland Apr 7, 2008 Bottle 0.5 l BBE 08.04.08. Nice clear copper. frothy head. Nose has strangely strong banana and esters with a bitterish grassy and roasted maltiness. Flavor is dry, roasted malty and hoppy bitter. Good alt, altho maybe not quite on par with Uerige and Schlussel. Ernest (4145), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 3, 2008 Füchschen, Düsseldorf.
Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting.
Body is clear medium to dark amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie, caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (dough).
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Good example. Rastacouere (5109), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 27, 2007 Delicious white and compact foam covers the clear amber body. Fresh smelling alt displaying plenty of grassy tones over the gentle grainy maltiness of utter softness. More developed than most. Light nutty nuances accompany the crisp, toasty and rather dry maltiness. Mild fruitiness can’t be picked out individually, but is felt throughout. Strong, tight-bubbled effervescence is exquisitely refreshing. Slight woodiness. Extremely crisp altbier. Very active in mouth and this is what I’ll remember. Almost minty in its herbal finish. Hugely fresh.
