Barnabus (28), Niagara, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2008 On tap at the Wooly in Guelph. It was perfect for the day (slightly hot and humid after a rain). Very fresh tasting with carmel and a touch of apple. A midly bitter aftertaste and a slightly dry mouth feel. VeloVampire (410), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2007 On tap at the Magpie - came a glorious golden/orange colour with a thick white head. Aroma sweet caramel malt, a good amount of herbal hops and some grassiness as well. Nice. Flavour similar, but with a delicate citrus quality, and a fair bit of nuttiness as well. This one’s kind of all over the place - not necessarily a bad thing. Fairly light bodied with a mild bitter finish. Good stuff, and a bit underrated I think, like most of the F&M beers. I would definitely get this again, preferably in late summer/early fall, as befits a "Harvest Ale". Crockett (903), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Apr 28, 2005 Cask at Volo. Pours deep gold with orange hues. Big creamy small bubble white head. Slight haze, very still. Clean sweet malt and light vanilla aroma. It was tapped about 3 hours before I sampled it. Very fresh tasting. Flavours are good and round but a bit washed out. Cocoa, vanilla, caramel and some herbs. Celery leaves snuck in too. It was very refreshing. mabel (1710), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 30, 2007 [776-20071020] Cask @ Volo Cask Days 2007 (Toronto, ON). Bit of grainy tea in the aroma. Hazy, orange brown body with a bubbly white head. Sweet grainy yeast and nice hoppy chocolate notes. Medium body. Great balance of grains and hops and yeast. DougShoemaker (2619), Toronto, Canada Aug 8, 2003 Shy fruit and malt nose, copper, with a small vanilla custard head. Roasted malt flavour, nutty, hint of caramel. Well balanced, light bodied, good bitter aftertaste, nice mouthfeel too. Easy drinking beer.
