2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Tessic (631) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2006
This "Special Draft" poured a very light yellow with a non-existant white head, even after a vigorous pour. To the nose it is very much like they’re Stone Hammer Pils. Doughy with very small slioght scent of citrus and a bit of hopps thrown in. It is smoother/ watery and doesn’t have much flavour. It smells much more than it tastes. The palate is doughy like the nose and dissipates quickly.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2005 Just as pootzboy says freshness makes a big difference with this beer just like most F&M beers. Aroma is of light bread, slightly hoppy with floral notes. Appearance needs improvement: small mostly-to-fully diminishing white head with fair lacing, and light yellow colour. Flavour is malty with some sweetness and little bitterness. Body is light to medium with soft carbonation.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 wnp22 (685) - Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, CANADA - MAY 23, 2005
Tasted in Toronto. Obtained from LCBO. Tasted in pint glass. Appearance is golden yellow, clear with moderate white head. Aroma is faint, slight hint of bitterness. Taste was similar to very cheap corn syrupy macros.
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 pootzboy (1312) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2004
I disagree with the Canadian raters that put this brew in the Macro fizzy weak category...it’s not. What it is; is a fairly decent drinkable draft lager with better than average malt delivery in it’s smooth dinking character. Bought mine fresh from the brewery....that’s the key sales point on this draft...it's sold fresh and meant to be consumed fresh and that is the fact with most of F&M brews. Age never improves the character as it isn’t pasturized in bottles...they aren’t date coded, so I’m not surprised there are bad reviews from people who buy this at the LCBO out of date.
The pour reveals a yellow-gold semi hazy liquid with a small head that reduces quickly to a light ring....carbonation is pronounced..the glass is lively. Light aroma of sweet malts and a musty hay smell. Starts crisp and peppers the tongue with effervescence as the main (light) body comes through with the balance definately on malts, light on the grassy hops... then the finish is nice...full malt departure with a long finish that has a lingering sour biscuit dough after taste. A nice drinkable draft. I will definately look at getting a pony keg for a patio get together with non beer geek friends...a good way to turn them on to fresh beer.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sammy (6129) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 5, 2004
I bought it fresh and it tasted so 10 days later. Crisp with higher than average carbonation. Satisfying all purpose beer. Better than the national brands. Like the fresh brasserie beers I would have at college in Montreal.
1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 hopscotch (7542) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 26, 2003
Co-rated by Scraff...
Very pale, amber lager.
Aroma is very light... some straw and hay.
No flavor. Not offensive, not good. Canada's version of Rolling Rock Extra Pale. Very thin. Light-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Well-balanced, but so is Evian bottled water. Short, crisp, clean finish.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 25, 2003
(Bottle) It appears by the ratings that this beer has been improved for 2003. F&M Special Draft shouldn't be a 1.2 - 1.8 rating; those can be saved for the Mols/batt's. Pours a thin, white head and a amber body. Pleasant nose of sweet malt that tranferred over to the flavour. There is some moss in there as well. Average.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cartoonkhaki (1177) - Brantford, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 17, 2003
Malty sweet aroma that was really powerful even when still in the bottle. Gold in colour thin head and little carbonation. Flavour is sweet the first few sips were okay but after awhile it got boring. It's interesting though. Creamy in the finish.

Golden yellowish, malty, acidic notes. In short NASTY. I have to admit that it was a bit to warm.
