Pours a dark brownish red with unappealing grey fizzy head; head disappears rather quickly. Malty aroma of caramel, some cherry cola and coffee notes - not much hop character. Somewhat toasty in the mouth - slightly medicinal up front, a bit of malty sweetness and slight coffee in the middle; chalky bitterness in the finish. Not very good.

can. Poured deep reddish brown with a settled tan head. Sweet around, notes of treacle. Medium body, carbonation a bit watery, sticky finish. Roasted malt flavour, burnt sugar, coffee notes, tobacco, herbal hops with bitter grapefruit peel.

Pours dark brown with a small off white top. Aroma is light toasted malt and molasses. Taste is nutty, light toasted malt and sweet caramel. Thin on body and not much complexity.

brown sugar, coffee and malt nose on a copper body. Off white head. Taste is a bit thin, featuring some nuttiness, malt, and a touch of coffee. Low carbonation and little finish. Foof.

can. pours unclear light brown, burnt orange, with a small beige cap offering minimal retention and lacing. plain caramel, fruity and nutty maltiness as well, maple syrup unsweetened solids, earthy stone fruits - almost rotten though, astringent woodsy-earthiness - disturbing; metal, clean yeast otherwise, chalk. moderate carbonation, light body - watery; relatively dry spicy-earthy finish. plain, boring and cheap fruity caramel with a strange english-like earthiness. nah.

Metalchopz (3095) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 5, 2016
Single can from the LCBO. Pours a clean, deep amber colour with a beige frothy head, good retention and creamy lacing. Nutty roasted malt aromas with hints of coffee, caramel and even chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, kind of watery, with notes of caramel and some decent hops in the finish. This creates a little grassy bitterness and dryness. Not bad, but missing a little balance.

0.473 can. Clear, brown color and a small, off-white head of poor retention. Malty aroma of caramel, and a bit of roast. A medium body, a somewhat creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is nice, malty, sweet - rather pleasant. Overall not a bad beer but nothing special either.

On tap at Beas Oktoberfest 2015. Towards the end of the festival so my notes were not quite so legible - roasted malts with some chocolate notes, mild body and moderate carbonation.

473ml can Beer Store: Chestnut brown with nice foamy beige head that completely dissipates. Sweet, nutty aroma. Tastes of brown rye bread, nuts, and Nonna’s chilled espresso. Slick, thin, yet clean mouthfeel. Moderate bitterness. Very drinkable dark.
