Bottle, pours brown, expected a bit more darkness, but the smell is nice, its of kind of chocolate yeastyness, Taste is similar. I found it to be very yeasty, hints of similar tastes to other f n m beers. but it worked for this offering, I enjoyed the taste of this beer

Sweet, malty, and easy to drink. Hops are present but donít translate into a strong bitterness. Very sessionable. I liked.

Bottle. Attractive mahogany appearance. Aromas of hot chocolate, mild coffee and corn syrup. Burnt chocolate and sawdust flavours. Good in general but painfully average for a dark.

Draught. Dark copper-brown with red tinge. Medium body with too much fizz. Caramel and blonde nuts.. very drinkable.. though slightly acrid in the swallow. On Tap at a steakhouse I used to eat in.. will never eat there again.. so no more of this for me either..

Frothmeister (559) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 30, 2010
355ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown, with a thin off-white head that disappeared very quick. Aroma is cocoa, earthy, and dark cereals. Taste is dark malt, slight sweetness, straw, faint chocolate. Watery, grassy and faint bitter finish.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2012 Cask pint at ??Cíest What??. Really nice deep brown pour with a bit of flat-lying tan foam. Nice aromas of toffee and citric hops and cocoa and nuts. Taste some nice chocolate and nuts followed by a later hop bitterness that just cinches refreshment over the light sweetness. Great feel! Supposedly best on cask conditioned. ** following time ** very odd pint with flavors that worsen into peanutty bitterness and green apple peel, not a graceful death of a cask. ** re re rate CASK at only, so good, caramel and toffee with bitter english hop, bock-like barnyard.

Pours a nice copper with a big tan head with good lacing. The taste is a little underwelming a liitle thin and flat with some burnt flavours in there as well

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2013 cask pint from the castle on king. dark brown with a soapy tan head that wasnt overly appealing. im not sure i completely undertand the love of cask ales. ive had a limited amount and from what i can tell some things really work and some things dont. the aroma was really funky and fruity. not at all what i was expecting and although it wasnt unappealing it didnt really seem to make to much sence. im guessing this had been on cask for a while because the funky fruitiness is totally different from everything ive ever heard about what this beer "traditionally" tastes like. this is a brew i will have to rerate in the future in another format./////////////////// bottle from f&m. Deep orangish brown with. Small off white head. Very much a mixed bag. There is some layered maltiness and its fairly well hopped but its not really like any other beer Iíve ever had. I can see myself sessioning this in the cold weather months.

rating partially biased since I had this from a cask which I love. Aroma mild and the flavour was a little weak perhaps with some caramel and nuttiness. however the mouthfeel was very nice. Noy really one to savour so much but I actually enjoyed it overall. Probably would have gotten a lower rating had it not been cask conditioned
