UPDATED: SEP 13, 2013 cask pint from the castle on king. dark brown with a soapy tan head that wasnt overly appealing. im not sure i completely undertand the love of cask ales. ive had a limited amount and from what i can tell some things really work and some things dont. the aroma was really funky and fruity. not at all what i was expecting and although it wasnt unappealing it didnt really seem to make to much sence. im guessing this had been on cask for a while because the funky fruitiness is totally different from everything ive ever heard about what this beer "traditionally" tastes like. this is a brew i will have to rerate in the future in another format./////////////////// bottle from f&m. Deep orangish brown with. Small off white head. Very much a mixed bag. There is some layered maltiness and its fairly well hopped but its not really like any other beer Iíve ever had. I can see myself sessioning this in the cold weather months.

rating partially biased since I had this from a cask which I love. Aroma mild and the flavour was a little weak perhaps with some caramel and nuttiness. however the mouthfeel was very nice. Noy really one to savour so much but I actually enjoyed it overall. Probably would have gotten a lower rating had it not been cask conditioned

Cask sample at the Victory - poured like a mahogany lacquer with a small, bubbly white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some twiggy hops, hazelnut and cocoa. Medium, slightly gravelly body. Flavours of sweet nuttiness and cream. Good beer.

[620-20070916] Sample @ Feast of Fields (Hillsburgh, ON). Dark fruity plum aroma with hint of sweet grain and a malt background. Clear, amber brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Dark bread yeast grains flavour. Medium-full body is a little raspy. Quite nice.

Bottle - 341ml (drove to Guelph to buy) pours dark copper with an average off white head. smell of caramel and biscuit. decent body, not too thin though find it needs to be lower in carbonation. good patio beer, much better than your staple beerstore brands. hope distribution takes off for this one.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2008 Draught at Cíest What? Deep amber colouration to the body with a small off-white head. Creamy, smooth taste with maltiness and caramel overtones. Medium bodied, but perhaps overcarbonated. Okay, but nothing special.

Bottle. Dark copper-red with a small white creamy head. Smells of doughy caramel, toast, and near burnt malts. Tastes a bit sour and creamy with some abrasive carbonation and almond nuttiness. Iím pretty sure Iíve had this several times over the last couple of years but only got around to rating it now, wow.

Sampled at the Kitchener craft beer show. Pours a nice brown colour with a small head. Aroma is malty, slightly earthy. The taste is almost entirely malty, with very noticeable elements of roasted coffee. Enjoyable over-all.
