3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On cask at the King Edward in Ilderton, Ontario- A deep mahogany that lets in some light, with a thin beige cap. Nose of fresh hops and caramel malts, nutty, bready, and hints at brown sugar and maple. Tastes of fresh green hops, sweet malts, some rye, sweet caramel and butterscotch. No real maple except for some sweetness which could be malts. Creamy and delicate, quite dry and puckering on the finish. Thanks for getting this on RIch! Look forward to your next adventure!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draught. At CíEst What Spring Fest. Hazy amber with an average off-white head. Slight burnt aroma, dry with buttery diacetyl. Nutty, lightly herbal taste, not much butter, but it finishes too sweet. Light, slightly creamy mouthfeel, and an increasing harshness in the aftertaste - kinda dull, not great.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Taps a clear rusty- amber color with a modest rocky cap. Large carbonation bubbles, modest lacing.
Aroma is malty-sweet with hints of maple and grass.
Thin mouth feel, malt forward profile, styrian-like spicy hop bite is light but discernable, maple flavor is detectable in the finish. Overall a tad sweet but malty so thatís ok with me.
I put this on par with the defunct Brickman founderís series red in flavor profile. Iíd buy more.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pint at the Kick Off in Waterloo. Pours a beautiful deep, dark ruby with a small tan head. The aroma is faint, just well kilned chrystal and caramalt, crisp hops, perhaps only the subtlest of hints of maple. The flavour is surprisingly hop-forward, dry astringency the whole way through and some nice tongue-biting feeling to it. Again, same solid malt body behind it, very enjoyable, this would make a perfect session brew. My only problems with it would be itís suspicious similarity to Mill St. Tankhouse Ale and Grand Riverís Plowmanís Ale. There is really little maple to speak of and it seems almost like a decent attempt at brewing a clone of the two beers I mentioned, perhaps trying to cash in on a style which has proven successful in the apparently conservative Ontario market. But despite the lack of uniqueness this is still a very tasty and well balanced brew, though it could use some more maple to legitimize the name.
