I tried this beer on draught on November 18, 2011 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer pours a sold dark brown with a medium brown foamy head. The aroma is mocha, coffee, and vanilla. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with mild carbonation. The flavour was coffee, chocolate, anise, and vanilla

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This oatmeal stout poured a deep black colour with a beautiful, light brown, creamy head. To the nose there are scents of coffee, cocoa, roasted malt and cream. First sip was smooth and very coffee flavourful. Other flavours of cocoa, caramel and burnt toast aswell. Finish was very roasty with coffee flavours lingering forever.

Aroma solid aroma. Good clean coffee roast. Feel of dark barley and starch/ Ligh notes of hops.8-
Appearance brown-black with light beige creamy top. Proper.
Flavor and Palate : Frontal bitterness with hint of smoke. Dark roast right behind followed by lighter chewy character. Raw bitterness adds positive feel to already solid impression. Well done.

Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and dried fruit. Appearance was black with thin brown head almost and opaque black. Full bodied easy drinker with mild carbonation. Taste of coffee, chocolate, and bit of smoke. This beer was also quite bitter to the tongue. Overall a pretty tasty easy drinking beer.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2010 * UP-RATE* Blacky brown with a big fat brown head. BIG aromas of coffee chocolate rich malt. Lemony hop. Taste roasty and rich-malty, with long flavors of dry and fruity coffee (not grounds-y which is good.) Like!! ** ORIG RATE ** Presents dark brown w/ tinge of red - sm tan head. Sweet smell of roast malt, excellent earthy-mineral aroma and toffee. Taste roast, sweet coffee and faint coca, with a narrow note of lemon hops, and a slight plasticky middle note. Very late finish is lightly roasty, dry, citrus. Overall competent. 7 4 7 3 12 = 3.3

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Volo. The aroma is toasty malt with primarily coffee, but a bit of smoke there too. I really liked the appearance: inky brown letting little light through, a nice tan, foamy head with a slight brown film which lasted a long time disappearing into a fine lace. The coffee dominated the taste. Lively carbonation, really fizzy on the front of the tongue, thick textured.

Pint enjoyed at the Kick Off. Taps an opaque deep brown with a tiny tan surface film. The aroma has some nice toffee malts and vanilla mixed in with enticing coffee roast. The flavour hits right away with dry roast, mixed in with some sweet caramel and toffee malts, in good balance. Minor dry/bitter, astringent bite on the tongue in the finish that impressed me. The mouth-feel is somewhat full but lacks the richness of body I might expect in an oatmeal stout. Still, this is a very tasty beer and I’m glad I finally got to try it. I could session this all night as I think it’s one of the best stout’s produced in this province.
