October 2010 - cask pint at Volo Pre- Cask Days. Slightly hazy bright light copper with pretty much no head or signs of bubbling at all. Has a reasonable amount of floral pungency, but seems excessively sweet - caramel and candy, and sadly an unwelcome whiff of butter (6-). Taste follows - sweet, floral, initially buttery - no alcohol, maybe a hint of apricot - some bitterness trying to evolve. Fairly thick, dead flat, finishes sweet then slightly pungent floral bitterness is left on the palate. Meh.

Cask for ’Pre-Cask Days’ at Volo. Pours a clear, slightly bubbly orange with no head. Aroma’s quite buttery (diacetyl?), mostly in the way that I often get in UK Bitters, along with light hops. Flavour’s watery and lifeless, even for cask, and there’s not much flavour, just some mild buttery caramel malt in the average bitter finish. Average bodied. Just O.K.

[3427-20101025] Cask. Sugary bush grain aroma. Slightly hazy, amber orange body with no head. Sweet grainy malt flavour has mild buttery hints. Medium body. Fair, ordinary.

2010-10-25. Crisp amber body, near headless 3+ Interesting malt aroma has an English character to it, very mild hop character. 7+ Flavour is similarly malty with an English malt and hop profile, light toast and caramel touches, tee like notes in the hops (Goldings? Fuggles?) Average palate is lightly carbonated. Decent but the hops are not entirely to my own tastes. On cask at Volo, Toronto

Cask Days at Volo, Traditional english casks. I returned my first glass and received one properly washed out to enjoy: Medium yellow, some bubbles in the minimal head. Medium mouthfeel. A decent bitterness, and a different enough one from the other casks. Pleasant enough drinking.

Cask at Volo
Aroma: Creamy feel with hints of diacetyl yet with good malt aroma below. Finishing with hint of hops. 5-
Appearance: slight haze amber-gold brew with medium rocky top.
Taste and Palate: Soft character with feel of golden biscuit , soft malt. Light ale that is rather on sweter gentler side. Slight nutty feel finishing. Fine.
