3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 8, 2009 Not bad, nothing spectacular, but enjoyable. Nice hops, with a decent pils malt backbone. It’s nice on a warm summer evening. Actually quite crisp and delicious when fresh as in keeping with the style. Nice cereal grain quality to it on tap, though this at times almost comes off like cherrio’s. Still, in another world compared to anything macro. A very well-done semi-local brew that I could drink boat-loads of over the summer, and is never a bad choice on tap, especially at places with nothing better.

draft at bow and arrow in toronto. clear golden with white head, it has sour dough aroma with hint of grapefruit. it is a bit yeasty, but has a unique accent of blended olive and malt. pleasant to drink.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2007 341 ml bottle - pours pale greenish gold with delicate champagne-like effervessence and a fluffy white cap. Pretty nice Saaz aroma is balanced very nicely with a sweet malt backbone and some yeast. Taste much the same with a crisp, dry finish. Well-balanced. Good.

More of a decent American lager than a pilsner. Not so bad as such but just not as clean or defined as say Neustadt Lager. Certainly lacks hoppy detail for a pilsner, there is some bitterness but it lacks the floral dimensions. Not a go-back beer for me.

Light blonde looks like any other pilsener, but has a reasonably complex and full flavour. Some malt and a nice refreshing finish.

Drank this one weekend at the cottage alongside JR Brickman’s Pilsener and this was by far superior. Very fruity floral hop aroma and flavor. A little on the sweet side keeping the finish from all it could be. Cheers!

Draught @ Hostex: My due diligence warning - tasting this the day after King’s Pils at the brewery is probably not going to bode well for Stonehammer. Pours nice - vibrant yellow, good carbonation, with a bountiful marshmallow white head. Aroma is of fruit, perhaps apple, with malt. Flavour is very dry with adequate hoppy bitterness, and splashes of sweetness to balance things out. Quite accessible as a pale lager, but not terribly true to style.
