Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/11/10. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of milk chocolate, dark fruit with a touch of sweetness. Flavour had more chocolate, slightly sour lactose and some roasted malt in the finish. Enjoyable.

6th August 2009 GBBF Cask. Very dark brown beer, clear. Light softish palate, a little dry. Very light malt with a whisper of toast. Very light everything porter. Bit too much so.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms - Aug 20 2011. Deep ruby-black, diminishing frothy tan head. Tart, nearly sour aroma - fermented prunes, turkish coffee - quite sour. Taste is very fruity, lightly sour - coffee and a bit of treacle. Light, slick, still, a bit of sting in the finish from the acidity. Odd.

Cask, handpump at The Mill Hotel, Chester, Cheshire, 25-04-10 Pours dark brown with off white head. milk chocolate dominates in both the nose and the mouth, there is a touch of slight tangy sour fruitiness, cocoa powder, yum, nice beer. A6 A4 F8 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England. Clear dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, coffee, vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate to light light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090804]

Roast aroma. Mid brown dark coloured a little rich on the palate and fruity with a crisp and slightly dry burnt roast finish.

Gravicask, sample, from the Welsh and Scottish Bar, GBBF 09. Inky black body with ruby highlights. Smell of almost burnt grainy malt. Roasted grain in flavour with notes of liquorice and sweet malts. Dry ending, but still diluted in the mouth. Just half way pleased with this one (Earls Court, London 06.08.2009).
