Cask @ Camra National Winter Ale Festival, Manchester, UK 28 Jan 2005
Launched at the festival. Plenty of tast. Licorice, burned cookies and caramel. Shortbread. Some spices are added, according to programme, but I can’t taste that.

Cask Stillage at the Memorial Hall, Northwich 16/09/2005 Dark coloured smooth on the palate and fruity. Some dryness and spicy ginger in the finish.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Dark, with a really nice, creamy beige head. This is a blackcurrant Mild, with a lingering flavour. Something a bit different certainly, but I didn’t get the advertised spices. Perhaps a thin metallic body, but I’d rather just call it blackcurrant. Interesting, but not brilliant.
