Papsoe (10510), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 22, 2005 (Bottle 25 cl) The colour seems right: this is pitch black - but there’s pretty much no head whatsoever. This is far from the dry, ashy feel you get in Irish stout. This has an odd, fruity tartness - a bit similar to what you find in a Flemish sour - yet completely without the metallic edge. An unusual beer indeed. 180799 aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Apr 20, 2005 Burnt mocha and plums notes. Sour with a wine vinegar character. Lots of residual sugar and astringency. Sour and off finish. bierkoning (4932), La Tropica, Netherlands Mar 14, 2002 No head. Aroma: sweet and fruity. Taste: sweet and sour (apples, vinegar). I like sour lambic beers, but for a sweet stout this is too much.
