A very solid APA. A very clear golden color, could be mistaken for an amber lager. Pure citrus on the nose. Satisfying bready flavor with a rush of assertive hops. Very dry, but refreshing. If you see it on draft in Oakland and are looking for a sessionable pale ale, it’s hard to do much better than this.

This is one of the best easy drinking pales on the market. Solid tropical and citrus fruit, caramel and bread malts and a subtle lasting bitterness in the finish.

Sample at the tap room. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, fruit and sweet malt. Light-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops, tropical fruit and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Solid APA all around.

Nice quaffable pale ale with some hop bite. Pairing it with a bahía de cochinos and it completes the meal, holding up nicely against the seasoned pork and spice.

Tap at mikkeller SF. Hazy gold. Lovely juicy papaya in aroma with bit of light musty spice. Clean malt - lovely biscuit. Pineapple and mango juice. Slight bite. Little floral note. Clean finish with a bit of extra citric bitterness lingering. I drank this like a 3.5% session ale. That's a good sign.

Tap@Faction. Pours clear pale golden with a small off-white head that dissipates quickly with nice lacing. Aroma is light overall, with citrus, tropical notes, passionfruit, some dankness. Flavor is light as well, dank forest floor, citrus, minimal sweetness and lightly bitter. Light body, watery mouthfeel.

3fourths (8238) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 11, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2014 Draft at Mikkeller Bar SF. Lightly hazed amber with a fine head. Fruit goop and green onion and pine resin and grapefruit and red apple skin and maraschino cherry aroma, pretty much as expected from mosaic and Simcoe. Light must / BO notes from yeast. Sweet, medium body, medium high bitterness, medium acid. Carbonation is fine and soft, the highlight of this beer. Malt is nicely soft as well and the yeast provides added creaminess. This sits well in Red IPA territory, lots of "tropical fruit" notes to go with your resin, red apple and grapefruit. The aroma is powerful but not really that exciting, and as a whole this doesn’t stand out as remarkably different than the sort of hoppy amber ales that are common throughout the states.
