Bottle. brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is alcohol, spices, dried fruit. Flavour is sweet, alcohol, malt, berries, dried fruits, spices. OK beer.

Bottle in a park in Basel. Muddy orange red coloured with a small off-white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel, dried fruits and alcohol. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits, alcohol and marzipan with notes of nuts. Sweet finish.

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. 9% ABV. A flat, dark amber beer, almost clear, and with some bubbles around the rim. Roasted, spiced nose with jam and dried fruits. Alcohol too, in a pleasant way. Some sourish notes too. Full body, sweetish and sticky, and slightly warming. Dried fruits, caramel, sugar, alcohol and a touch of spices in the flavor. Lasting finish. Overall, a bit heavy on the alcohol, at least when considering the body fullness. Not bad, but I suspect a bottle on my own would be demanding. 110304

Bottle.Pours golden orange with a small off-white head.Aroma of bready malts, caramel, alcohol and licorice.Flavor is sweet and warming with some alcohol, caramel and licorice.Medium to full body, soft carbonation.Slightly meaty beer , not quite "there".

ABV. 9.0%. Light unclear medium orange amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, honey - overripped fruit notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, caramel - candy sweet. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20100908]

Hazy amber with a small of white head. Sweet aroma with toasted malt, fruit, caramel and alcohol. Sweet flavor with toasted malt, caramel, dark fruits and rubber. Slightly off. Cloying sweet.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is yeasty, fruity and phenolic. Slight spiced too. Sweet malty, caramelish and candy like. Slight fruity phenolic. Quite sweet caramelish. Toasted malty into the finish.

Bouteille de 33 cl de chez Grain d’Orge à Crissier (CH). Bière rousse-ambrée foncée, sans mousse et faible pétillement. Odeur maltée, caramel au beurre, malt roti, touche d’orange et de soufre. Goût très doux, très caramélisé. Texture huileuse, coprs plein, candi XL, note d’alcool, de rhum, d’orange et de raisin. La douceur sucrée poursuit jusque dans l’étalement avec une pointe d’amertume et d’acidité. Un peu lourde et sirupeuse.

Bottled ((9.4 % ABV) Thanks Bov! Bottle cap mentions Oct 2006). Hazy ambery brown colour with mediumsized head, that turns into a small one quite quickly. Aroma is strong plum, toffee, fruits, alcohol and mild woodenness. As it turns warmer the aroma goes a bit oxidized. Flavour is wood, bread, spices, yeast and ends in a very smooth toffeeish raisiny way. Warming up it turns toffeeish all the way through. The finish is quite much plumpudding mixed with wood, nectar and raisins. Quite crisp carbonation makes this one a rather slow-to-drink beer.

Hazy amber colored, ultra fast dying head. Sharp in the aroma. Malt, toffee, fruit and some alcohol present. Fruit and anise flavor with a sharp citrus note and some orange and pineapple also. Good taste but not very balanced. Hides the high ABV well.
